Bringing a car in to dealership for the first time to purchase X Warranty

Hello M3Post,

Recently purchased an e90 M3 with 42k miles on it from a dealership on eBay (Texas Import Sales). I LOVE the dealership nearby to my house (Fields). I love the service there and all of the small perks of being affiliated (free breakfasts and lunches, car washes, personable, etc.) Do I just drive my car to the dealership and ask for quotes on the extended warranty? Is there anything to be aware of as far as the negotiating process? I did a search a few days ago and saw a statistic along the lines of dealers normally having about a 38% markup on the price.

Any advice helps

I would get quotes from several dealers. When I got mine, Steve Thomas BMW was the cheapest around.

If you live in Florida you cannot get a discount on a BMW extended warranty. I know this to be true because when I bought one at a discount from Schaffer BMW in NC the computer would not allow him to continue with my Florida address. I had a Michigan address that I could use. I'm a Fields customer in Lakeland. You can just talk to their finance manager. If you want a BMW warranty ( the only kind I'd buy ) there is no point in checking with other dealers in Florida because the price will be the same since it is a regulated insurance product.

My credit union is offering some pretty competitive rates on a warranty for my 2008 E90 M3 with 25K miles. And, I'll be able to finance it along with the car so I get a monthly rate for the warranty rather than a lump sum all at once up front.

Darn.

I really do like Fields though.
