It does have that rhythmic sound. My E36M3 had it, E46M3, E86M, E90M3 and my E39M5 has it to some degree, but much softer.

Others can chime in as well, but it's not the clutch release bearing, as you're (used correctly) releasing the clutch for the sound to appear.

It's the springs in the dual mass fly wheel. They get old and weak allowing the mass weight to move too much and rattle.

No. The noise is from the transmission itself. DFM springs aren't under tension when stationary.

I think you are mistaken how a DMF works. It oscillates on idle due to engine power pulse causing noise of spring or weak. I have replaced one and problem solved.

This is loud one but here is a small video
Not Bmw tho.

I'm aware of how it works, I'm on my 8th.

It's the lash from the input shaft; some have gone to thicker fluids to dampen it, but that doesn't help in the cold weather. Either way, the DMF, on a stationary car, has no load upon it.
