I'm going to try without it. I just spent so much on TA, spark plugs, coil tool, Carly ODBII adapter and other unrelated mods. Thanks though

Just completed this. Not bad at all. This DIY helped a lot.
Right side back was definitely the hardest one, also critical to use a universal joint extension. No need to remove plenum. |

Just finished this on a new (to me) 08. Thanks to the tips in this thread - Stig's coil puller, and the swivel spark plug socket, especially - the job was pretty easy, even for this noob. Coil puller made quick work of getting the coils off and back on. After a quick test drive, the change is pretty dramatic. Much less grumpy at startup and better low-RPM throttle response. The old plugs were clearly well beyond their useful life.
Old plugs had the same pattern that msan described in post 457: dry on the drivers side, and oil on threads on the passenger side. |

Glad I came across this thread, thanks to all who have contributed. Already ordered Stig's "Division M" puller and the Gearwrench Swivel Spark Plug Socket! Then I may have missed it but is there a preferred place to order spark plugs from?
Update - Just ordered them on Amazon, easy enough! NGK 4471 LKR8AP - $11 plus change each.

The amount of dust on top of my air filter was insane, note to clean that more often.

Tip: It helps to push those back plastic panels out of the way. Did this at the beginning.

Did mine today. The M Division tool is a must.
Also had to use a Stanley "wonder bar" for the plugs closest to the firewall. I leveraged the nipples for the cylinder head covers as pivot to pull the coils. Worked very well. http://www.homedepot.com/p/Stanley-1...515K/100093815 |

They gave me a refund however in the reference email it was called a "goodwill" refund as if i was lying about only getting 6 instead of the 8 I actually paid for & ordered. BTW...EASY job! some of you guys worry to much haha don't be intimidated just go slow.. and that extra puller tool thing is a total waste of money. a flat blade screwdriver is all a person needs. basic stuff guys. |
