918-style! The GT3, GT3RS and GT4 seats are made by Lear and the 918's are made by Recaro, I believe.

Yes. It's from Greg Thompson Automotive Design (http://www.gtautomotivedesign.com/) and is expected to go into production Q3 2016. The jury is still out on not only the date, but more important...the functionality. The car itself is set up by Porsche Motorsport and anything cosmetic at the expense of that balance would be foolish IMO, but we'll see.

Spent a good part of last week driving a GT4 with an Akrapovic exhaust that we did.

I can't emphasize enough how much I love this car. Congrats my dude, you're gonna love it.

And if you want a taste of the sound, here.

Only if it doesn't mess up the aero. Keeping my fingers crossed, since it'll up the badassery factor by 3

That launch looked strong. Dug in, tucked and gone.

Congratulations! I, too, am envious.

I have found out that there's already a quite strong aftermarket following for the car.

Cayman is literally a Boxster with a hardtop. Same chassis, drivetrain, etc. Except, I believe the Boxster chassis is a year ahead in iteration.

Regardless, the Cayman GT4 is badass. I just can't afford it without dipping into retirement.

Come on man, who needs to retire? Just keep working until you're dead, that way you don't even need to save for retirement and can always live for the present.

Little factoid...the GT4 has a different chassis number than a Cayman.

Having never owned a GT program car, let alone a Porsche, the experience was something entirely foreign, but not altogether unpleasant. For example, the build has to be approved by the general manager. That never happened with BMW.

The largest obstacle for me was the carbon ceramic brakes, but ultimately it came down to two things...1. the GT4 Clubsport race version has the steel brakes and 2. paying $25,000 for 4 replacement rotors that Porsche does not warrant seemed a bit excessive.

The light weight bucket seats were a must. The RS fenders are a Greg Thompson design, but production appears to be later this year.

Goes into production 22 April and out on 6 May. ETA 1 July with PDI.

There will be no more allocations for the GT4 from Porsche and production at Osnabruck will be finished approximately August. The 981 GT4 will be a single model year...MY2016. Speculation being what it is, there's a good bet that GT4 will return in MY19 or MY20 as a 718.1.

Anyway...I'm totally stoked and can't wait to drive the anti-M6! As for the $15,000...
The bolded part is AWESOME to see. Many years ago I used to follow different modifications Greg did to his RX8 aero. It's awesome to see how far his work has progressed and that I'm reading his name here a BMW forum, because he's doing Porche parts. Love his work.

Oh, and congrats on the car as well, going to look stunning! I wonder their total fee on that CC transaction - it's got to be over $3k.

Put me in a 16' boxster spyder next to a gt4, track or drag. The gt4 has the suspension bits and wing while the spyder weighs a few sacks of dirt less. Drivers race imo.
And I can get some sun.

I think it would be price difference between the two and a coin flip. Love both.

I wish I could find a dealer willing to take full payment on AMEX, most I have ever been able to do is the deposit because of the 3.5% fee.

I just thought about how painful the wait is going to be for you. I ordered a silly rally car a few weeks ago and it's driving me nuts. I only have 6-8 weeks. I'm not sure how you can deal with such excitement. I can't wait to see pics of delivery.
