Tom, given what RegularGuy has found with the ARP bolts distorting the bore, are you still thinking they're the best bet? The stock bolts haven't failed that I'm aware of, so unless you're doing a complete disassembly where you can re-hone the rod ends, stock bolts might be a better bet, no? Curious as to your thoughts.

Why?

Since I have the car for 8 years, I am thinking about doing it as a maintenance issue and like to hear more opinion.

I might do a rod bearing change, but I wouldnt let a BMW dealership do.

I am not sure if you are talking about the actual rod bearing change or letting dealership do it

I had mine done for less than $2k at an exceptional BMW independent that does them regularly.

I had wear on my 2011 with 40k miles.

Any pics? What made you decide to change them?

They look about the same as most of the other ones photographed on this forum. Some scoring on the rearmost bearing. Wear on all of them. I have the pics on my phone, but honestly I've been to busy to upload them.

I changed them for peace of mind, especially since I went with a Stage 2 AA S/C.

It was a good decision. I really think everyone should consider doing the job as preventative maintenance.

Its worth mentioning that my car was driven by a housewife without a lead foot, and maintained religiously at the dealer. Just ferrying the kids around...

I agree with what others said at some point of my ownership I fully expect to do the bearing job as preventive maintenance. For two grand it just seems pointless NOT to, and I fully expect to own the car for a very long time
