test pipes just replace the primary (front) cats leaving everything else stock. X pipe is full replacement.

Test pipes are just primary cat delete pipes. $3-400 vs 1K-3K

And almost all of your power gains are from primary cat removal, x pipe will give a few more HP but not much. X pipe will give a whole lot more sound though if that's what your looking for.

Go with the aftermarket Xpipe instead of hacking up your OEM pipe.

Good luck, but IMO a canned tune is a canned tune. They're all the same, buy the cheapest one, or find a tuner who will dyno the car and tune YOUR specific car.

There are not very many different performance mods for the E9x M3 to make a canned tune inefficient. Essentially if you aren't supercharged, you are running the same set up as everyone else. I am not aware of any dyno tuners on this platform with a reputation, I'm sure some exist, but I doubt there are some in every city. It is not like there is an M3 out there that doesn't have a stroker or supercharger that is pushing a lot more than 400 whp, again, everyone is essentially running the same set up

Now I have clear understanding of what the differences are between the two. I will mostly likely go with x pipe paired with BPM tune since there are endless good reviews and feedback from many members here. Thanks a whole bunch!!!!

Just saw this thread. Most people install test pipes because the majority of the power is gained when removing them. When coupled with the correct software it can make your car run totally different. We offer software and test pipes for your vehicle as well. Take a look OP

This is correct. There is not much that a good tune and the ECU cannot be setup for or adapt to. This is why almost every tuner on this platform sells the same type of tune / options. Unless a customer has something that has to be tuned for like a displacement change, FI or a bolt on that causes major changes to the engine performance you do not need custom tuning. Many people have tried selling custom tuning to this market in the past and have never proven the advantages they were marketing with real data.

That being said we have sold ESS Tuning software for many chassis over the years and have had great success with the performance and support. ESS custom tuned our built stroker motor M3 and it runs flawless.
