Newb question about door chime

I'm not really a newbie, but I got a newbie question.

When I park my car, shut the engine down, and immediately open my driver door, sometimes I get chime sounds. I assume it's reminders for opened windows, trunk, lights, moonroof, locks, key in ignition, etc.

The problem is, I noticed that it still chimes when I have shut and closed everything down, but only chimes when I open my door right away after I shut the car down. If I shut it down, remove my key and wait for 5 sec, then open my door, no chime...

Anyone know why it chimes this way, drives me nuts b/c I think I left my windows down or something.

In my E92 335 I often get one errant chime accompanied by the 'key' icon in the dash when pulling the door lever as I pop the key out of the dash (no comfort access for me). Apparently the key doesn't have to be IN the dash to get recognized by the idiot alarm; really really close to the slot will do. Try placing the key right next to the slot and if your door chime comes back this is probably it.

Is your key still in the ignition? If your door is open, everything is shutoff, and your key is in the ignition it'll beep at you.

I meant if you're pulling the key out as you open the door. My 335 beeped even if i opened the door just a second or two after i removed the key.

so must be some kind of delay in which the Comfort access still detects the key remotely? Man it's annoying.
