Finally... tint, clear 3M film and black exhaust!

Only my second post, so please forgive me.

Well it has taken a few weeks, but finally I have completed the clear 3M film, window tint and the black exhaust.

3M Film
  • Bumper
  • Hood
  • Side Mirrors
  • Door Edges
  • Painted Bumper Reflectors

Window Tint
  • 7% All Around
  • 7% Visor Strip on Windshield
  • 50% on Windshield (crystalline 3M)

I was up at dawn to play golf and I thought I would take some pictures in some different lighting.

After having the car for three weeks I was already tired of the stainless look of the stock exhaust. I have not decided on an aftermarket exhaust system, so I decided to take the matters in my own hands. I think it turned out quite nicely and almost looks like it was stock. Notice the exhaust color from the side as well.

Note: I am not a photographer and there was no time to wash the car before these pictures.

I have more pics, so let me know if you want me to post any additional ones.

Thats cool I didnt know they made 7% tint. I def support your decision despite what people may say because I know that a lot of southern states(literally not figuratively) can get REALLY hot. (Florida, arizona, texas, etc)

I personally think you shoud just get a new exhaust all together

BMW of Austin is the BEST!

Yes, I did buy the car at BMW of Austin. I also purchased my 2002 M3 there as well. Two new M3's and two amazing experiences by BMW of Austin. I drove back home to Phoenix each time and had the break-in service within one week of delivery!

Tint is great and the Windshield tint at 50% crystalline does not allow much heat inside. Check out these stats on it.

Crystalline Series - CR 50
Visible Light Transmitted - 50%
Total Solar Energy Rejected - 56%
Total Solar Energy Rejected - 63%
On 60 Degree Angle
Infrared Rejected - 97%
Visible Light Reflected Internal - 7%
UV Rejected - 99.9%

I plan on purchasing an aftermarket exhaust, but I am not sure which one I want to get yet. In the mean-time I could not stand the color of the exhaust, so I painted it myself.

What type of paint did you use on the exhaust.
Looks pretty good and hides the muffler more.

Love both the e90 and e92 but I can't get over how much they dropped the ball with letting that bulging round muffler hang down........seeing the muffler hang down is why I have never put after-market exhaust on my cars because they are always big and round and hang down. Just irks me that they did not make it look cleaner like the E60, E39 M5's and E46 M3s........

Sorry to the OP for going OT...........

Sick car man, looks nice

A tinted windshield??? I've always wondered about that. Looks good but isn't it really unsafe for evening/nighttime driving?

+2. I hope there are no problems from the heat. Mufflers can get pretty hot.

Tint is a bit dark for my tastes, but the car looks good. I'm also curious about whether or not the paint will withstand the intense heat produced by the exhaust.

Yeah the Austin dealership is great. Do you know if it's legal in most states to do windshield tint?

The paint used is for exhaust systems including headers and mufflers. It will fit the bill until I can decide on which aftermarket exhaust system to purchase. I would like to see and listen to them in person first. Anyone around the Phoenix area have an aftermarket exhaust installed?
