Residue after blue painters tape

Hey guys, last weekend i attended the shift-s3tor event in coalinga, before i left i taped up my lip, mirrors, and couple other parts on the body for rock chips during the drive. when i came home and took all the tape off, the tape left some sticky residue on my car that is kind of hard to take off with bare hands, can you guys recommend any off the shelf product i can get at either pepboys or walmart to take this residue off?? i heard i can use isopropyl alcohol, but not too sure how accurate that is... thanks in advance!

Any QD spray or rubbing alcohol should do it. It's what many of us use when post-detailing. If that doesn't work, goo gone might work in a small amount as well.

Thank you so much! ill try the rubbing alcohol since its readily available! is there any percentage you recommend? also will the alcohol have any affect on the paint or the clear coat?

Actually, I saw a video of this professional detailer; what he does is that he sticks the tape on his cloth first, then tapes it on to the car. His rationale: peels off with ease afterward.

I used the 50/50 method, 50% IPA and 50% distilled water and it worked like a charm! haha thanks everyone!

another method to remove that stuff without even wiping it off is tarminator. spray, wait a minute and pressure wash off gunk. safe for clear coats.

I do that every time I tape up a car. The lint from your clothes makes the tape less tacky and easier to remove without leaving residue
