I've done a lot more research than what's in this thread and the bottom line is that many (who have been running boosted/meth S65's for years) discourage tuning for meth using the piggy back in this application. Reason being is that the S65 is apparently much more delicate than the n54 and so it's a much higher risk. Also, apparently there is some kind of implied warranty - at least with ESS - that if your motor goes BOOM with one of their kits, perhaps they will cover you if everything was done by the book and you didn't abuse/money shift. I don't know how true this is but it's at least a little comforting. I'm definitely going with meth, but I guess like everyone else the Proceed will not tune for it. I will just use the Procede for data logging, valet map switching, traction control and PWM meth control.

Might be a bit off topic, but on the last few super hot track days, I would top off my gas tank with 104 octane, maybe 1/4 tank maybe 1/2, but not more. I know this is not readily available in the real world, but most tracks seem to offer it and it seems that's where the OP is planning on using the meth. Just seems loads easier :

It was on my 335. Yeah I've never logged anything so high before...but this was the situation: In between runs our cars were sitting at idle on a hot black runway for up to 30 minutes at a time and my engine bay and intercooler were so hot i could have fried an egg. So when this occurred, my meth boiled in the lines and just wouldn't flow.
On the next run I primed the meth lines at the start of the run and so meth was able to flow and IAT's dropped dramatically. I ran PencilGeek in an ESS 535 M3 and it ended in a tie!

Thanks. I've seen many boosted M's at roll-on events and some do really well and some do very poorly. Typically this is because these events take place in the deserts of SoCal and the DA's tend to be very high and the conditions (sitting at idle for a while) tend to sacrifice performance. Understanding these conditions in advance and preparing for them is the only way I will be able to be one of the M's doing well

ESS has never blown a motor! FACT! OP... what are your target goals? Straight line acceleration? Tracking? If you want to compete at events like at Trona side-by-side you will need close to 900+hp which requires different car. For events like that to have more fun with a M3 you can always change wheels, tires and lose some weight in the car for the event to go faster!

To "compete" at Trona, you don't need a 900+hp car. To win every race maybe 900+ will do it, but my goal is not to be the fastest car at these events. If it was, I would have bought a different car. Having a 600 HP car is about average. I'm ok with that. Running 335's with singles and stock'ish GT-Rs and ZR1's will be plenty fun. I remember Drew did fairly well with the Arkym Orange VT2650. He beat some cars claiming more HP. Even Shiv beat an 880 HP Vette in his single turbo 335. So what's my goals? Well I want to learn to be a better driver on the track. The M3 is a great drivers car. And I want a car that is practical for a DD and looks good. But to attend future airstrip events (the next one should be later this year), I'm gonna need a blower in order to avoid being the slowest car there (the two stock M3's were the slowest cars at the event). A supercharged M3 will be blazing fast at sea level. But at 6,000 ft DA's - which are what we get at Big Willow or Trona on a hot day, it might not do very well. Understanding things like DA's and sitting around a while at idle on a hot track are things you never think about until you are there. Preventing poor performance attributable to these conditions is the final goal.

Bringing this back up, I remember this thread and I was curious: looking @ G-power's site, they indicated there are a few levels of boost available for the M3 setup. Does anyone know which stage kit the aforementioned car is using? B/c it would seem that there is a lot left on the table, so to speak, by not having a Procede-based s/c tune. And I'm aware that such a tune would void the s/c manufacturer's warranty, but it would be nice to be able to switch to a meth-specific, more aggressive map when the situation calls for it, and run a normal map when it does not.

I just heard Longboarder smoked a VF S/C M3 at the airstrip event today with his ESS VT2-600 kit!

Think independent owners would be proud and brag about their 60-130's ? Or even show some good comparison runs Vs some decent cars ? Why don't we ever see all the above ?? same here .... Entertainment at its best , I can't wait either .... |
