Would you pay a premium for NA F32 M3?
for a next gen N/A M3?
I understand the concept of the F/I cars coming out and they do have their place in the line up.... but I feel that ///M Division is "robbing its heritage" by putting TT's on ALL the new ///M cars. Question is, would you as the consumer be willing to pay an additional 15-20k for a next gen M3 if the N/A option was available?

15-20, no. up to 5k, yes. But I'd really have to see the numbers. Turbo or not, F3X will be sick.

I understand his car is already pretty pricey.... and in order to maintain affordability is why I would imagine M is going with a I6TT, so if they were to continue a N/A V8 it is going to cost a lot to continue production with R & D to keep pace with Audi and MB as far as HP numbers go. I am thinking that the M3 is going to end up falling by the way side in the Shadow of cars like the GT-R... especially if they keep the current trend of increasing the price by 15-20K with each new model M that comes out.
I personally cannot wait until the F30 comes out..... then mods for the E9X's might become a little more reasonable.

Once it comes out, many will stop caring about it not being an N/A engine. People hate change until the urge to have the latest M3 on the market nudges them. Watch...

Why? I already have a N/A V8 M3.
I'm sure it will be a nice car but I don't like any of their latest designs, turbos aside. The 1M is the only car they have that excites me at all outside of the current M3.

Just the fact that it's 'the next M3' is not a good enough reason to buy it.

The move to turbos will bring all of the current 335 guys into the fold. They know this.

It is very unlikely that the M3 will have "optional engines". It's not easy or cheap to develop this cars and would not make sense. The have never done it and is unlikely they will. Maybe have different cars (like Audi with the S Vs the RS). In this case a CSL with more power on the same platform, but paying such a high price is definitely not justified, specially having multiple other great cars in the market. Now, if you are really a high rev purist, your options are going to be very expensive. I'm sure the next generation will be great too, or at least give BMW the chance to prove us all wrong (again). |

Hardly. Trend up in desire for some, but it'll keep depreciating along with the rest. Which is the beauty. It'll be a cheap car to pick up in a few years. Just like the Z4 M is now.

Comparing a niche market 2 seater to a mainstream 4 seater might not be a valid argument from a depreciation standpoint, but you're right- the Z4M is a performance car bargain today for those that appreciate it, I don't plan on ever getting rid of mine. I see the curve not dipping quite as sharply on the E92s. As for me, I don't want a turbo M car.......and would gladly pay a premium for a well-cared-for example of what I want.

Normally my answer would be yes I would pay more but even better would be to just buy a 911. Make mine a 997S or GT3 while we are at it. No turbos for me. Been there done that.

I certainly would not purchase that option. The fellow in charge of the M Division is a Marketing Dude they should replace him with someone that knows what they do at the M Division

$500 over invoice or no deal.
True, and there a lot of others who act and decide based on something other than emotions or a herd instinct.
