First Pad Change
Did my first pad change yesterday, installed Pagid RS19 in front and RS7 in rear (based on Turner recommendation).
First I want to say thanks for the DIY thread to any contributors. Really helped to make it pretty simple. Stll took 3.5 hours, but should be able to cut that in half next time. One problem, snapped the rear brake sensor in half when trying to pull it out. The tip was pretty much melted into the pad, wasn't coming out. Couple of questions/confirmation: 1) I installed a week prior to the event in case I had any issues. So I will be driving on track pads for a week. I assume this is a bit harsh on the rotors but not a big deal, right? I'll take them off after the event. 2) The warning light for the broken sensor says to change rear pads (as expected). Also a yellow light on the dash says 'BRAKE'. I assume this is because of the pads but want to confirm that this light doesn't mean something else is wrong. On a side note, my car sounds like a dump truck and I find it pretty amusing. When I pull up to a light, I get some very funny looks. |

I know what you mean with the dump truck thing. I run HP Plus to the track, and it's the same.
Regarding the rear wear sensor, what a PIA to change it! You have to remove the screws on the fender liner and plug in the new sensor wire after pulling the liner out of the way. Do you think they could have put it in a more convenient location? Even though it should be replaced, I left the old sensor there and I'm sure I'll get a warning light sooner or later. Replacing it is really a pain if you're a fat old man like me and your car is up on jack stands rather than a lift!
