best consumer-grade wireless router??

i posted a thread a few days ago about frustrations with my linksys wrt310n and, after lots of time trying to fix it, i have come to the conclusion that the router is a piece of shit and can't keep up with me. i'm looking for the best and fastest wireless N router i can get my hands on. suggestions?

also, i'll be selling my wrt310n. send me an offer. router is great for everyday browsing, but forget about sharing media within your LAN.

I've had a ton of gripes with Apple's products lately, but their AirPort Extreme has been pretty solid thus far for me, including file sharing. Worth a shot for sure.

hey blake i just got the same router and i love it so far. only thing is the heat, did you have the same problem too?

mine is lifted off surface table by a stacks of this stryofoam thing lol. helps a bit but still hot, not warm.

my other choice was the belkin n1...which you should look into along with the apple only if you need the 5ghz spec though.

mine gets pretty hot too, but i also crank up the output power on it as well. i run it at 85mW no problem, it just doesn't multiplex.

I also have the wrt310n. It sucks imo. Wish I bought a WRT54G again. All my wireless cards are still using G anyways. I tried buying a N wireless card and it didn't make any difference so I returned it.

+1000000.

Blake, I know you don't like Apple but the Airport Extreme is the most reliable router I have ever used. I'm a PC guy myself but this is one solid piece of hardware. I set up 22 Airport Extreme's (linked to one another broadcasting the same SSID) at a client's site last summer. Not ONE has gone down since!! Uptime going on 9 months so far!!

I can't say the same for any Linksys, D-Link, or Netgear product I've tried. Most times I've had to power-cycle the aforementioned devices numerous times every month.

Also, here's a tip for ordering from Apple. Go to their website, click on "store," then click on "education store," on the left, select a school in your local zip and you will get a nice discount on everything (no i.d. required).

I have owned a few different Linksys over the years and all of them have caused me frustration.

I bought a Netgear RangeMax N over 2 years ago, set it up once and have not touched it since.

People who do that are the reason why we have seen a huge reduction or no discount on certain items at all in the edu store.

apple should fix the issue, don't shoot the messenger.

Blake, I am thinking of getting an APple. Heck, last summer, I bit the bullet and bought an Apple laptop. I am in love with it since then. I vouch for apple quality.
