MORNING CEDAR roll call!

Just got confirmation that my car did, in fact, make it onto MORNING CEDAR bound for Port Hueneme.

Depending on which schedule you look at it's due at port on 6/29 or 6/30. Assuming that all of port recall issues are sorted by then it means that there's a very good chance that the July 4th weekend will be a memorable one!!

Anyone else on this ship?

I found this post when I did a google for Morning Cedar tracking. That was fast!

I just went to "In Transit" this AM so it looks like my 135i is also on board.

At the risk of outing myself as a HUGE DORK, I made a short time-lapse video of the Morning Cedar leaving the port using the images from the webcam feed. I just happened to check in at the right time on Sunday as I quickly noticed the rear ramp was up and there were couple tugs in the water near the boat—so I started saving pics. Unfortunately it moored again on the way out and I had to leave so you can see it sitting in the last pic.

It should be arriving in Southampton in about 4 hours or so. It should pass the webcam on www.ais-live.co.uk sometime before that...

The captain must have lost his hat

I think that they are trying to delay their arrival into port due to traffic... much in the same way that planes circle the airport.

Funny, I have a similar set of photos saved on my home computer.

Strange thing is that this isn't my first BMW or even my first M car, but for some reason I'm getting a real kick out of tracking its progress.

This will be my fourth BMW but I feel the same. My girlfriend keeps accusing me of stalking my car and I can't really argue her point. I just find it fascinating that one can actually follow everything so closely while sitting at a computer halfway 'round the world.

My E92 M3 is on the Morning Cedar. It is a long wait between ED and USD! For European Delivery: Don't forget they still need to go through customes (could take two weeks) and then BMW will have it to make any repairs. Mine has the shadow trim issue. I think it will be late July before I see mine.

My car is on the Morning Cedar, too. I hope the car can be prepped, transported to the dealer and delivered by the holiday weekend. I'll cross my fingers for a smooth trip through the VPC!

my dealer just sent me a message saying eta on deliver is july 15th, but there could be delays. did our ship get hijacked by pirates? it's missing from radar.

It's out of range of the shore-based tracking systems. If the ship sends out weather updates then we'll be able to track it (sporadically) on www.sailwx.info using callsign S6IW.

According to the last position update the ETA at Panama is 6/22 which would put it into port on 7/2. Only time will tell.

In general I've found dealers giving out 2 weeks from the port ETA as a delivery date in order to be safe.

Unfortunately, only time will tell.

Is there a shore based tracking system for the Panama canal area? I'd love to catch it going through as they have some great hi-res webcams on the locks.
