Not to sound like a dick, but who the F authorized a shutdown of certain streets of SF for this event? Who the hell is paying for the labor, safety, cleaning/repayment of all the tire tracks he left and damage that might have occurred. Sometimes i wonder why people would let the city use tax payers money to have an event like this. I can only imagine the amount of traffic and frustration this caused thousands of people just trying to get around, leave their house or even get to work.

Lol I only asked that because it was SF. In any other city i could see it happening more easily like vegas, sacramento, fresno ect... but you don't see stuff like this happening in NY so why is it happening in SF. That freeway was empty. I've never seen it empty before so i can only imagine the amount of traffic that event caused as well as the cost to pay for repairs, cops, detour equipment/labor ect...

I'm not that uptight about much, but CA is going downhill because of overspending and wasting tax payers money for stupid things like this. It might have been cheaper to build this guy a custom track than it would have been to shut down parts of SF. If 100% of the bill was covered by Ford then thats a little different. Then its just an inconvenience.

That video reminds me of an old video game i used to love playing. San Francisco Rush.

these videos are shot in segments, it isn't one continuous event like they would have you believe, just look at all the old skidmarks in each shot from the bad takes before. Basically they shut down a block or two at a time and shoot it until they get it right and from multiple angles. Edit it together to make it look like a seamless run.

Dam if thats the case i can't imagine the amount of extra labor it took to pull that off. I hope ford paid for it all since it was their video.

Thanks for that bit of info though, it sure was edited good since i believed that it was all shot at once lol.

yea just look at the part where he drifts under the motorcycles rear tire. The POV shot at 6:13 coming into the turn the ground is black with skids marks, the next shot from the side at 6:16 shows only a couple skid marks. great driving none the less but this is a compilation of the best takes, stitched together to look like one flawless run.

the city makes money on things like this, you have to have a film permit and everything else. the people paying for it are the people who have stickers on the car. that and the hits from people watching it on youtube....

Nah, this question isn't "dickish" at all. First, who has control over all the resources you mention above? City government, starting with the Mayor. Who's paying? Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer, but you knew that already. And the people....call them "sheeple" instead. California's been broke for decades and imo they'll grab at anything to fill the/their coffer, mostly at the expense of the taxpayer. I was stationed there at Ft. Ord almost 30 years ago and for what it's worth, it was decent enough, but my last visit there 2 years ago...man that place(or at least my old stomping grounds) has gone to shit. Vote with your feet man, leave that sorry ass state.

You can shut down any street any where if the price is right. I'm sure Block, and DC paid out the ASS for the closures in SF.

exactly. I don't know why people think this is tax-payer money. The city charges you to do stuff like this. Even if you want to block a 10-foot section of sidewalk for a day, you have to file for a permit and pay a fee.
