Anyone else pissed E92/E93 is not ending in MY2012?!
hello all,
Rumors last year were this June 2012 was the end of E92/93 production, but now it looks like the E92/93 will go beyond June and be 2013MY?!!!! I placed my order last year and my production is next week..I was looking forward to having the last MY of the E9X, but doesn't look like I will be getting the last year now. It;s not the end of the world for me, but I wasn't in a hurry to pull the trigger on the M3 yet, and if I have known My2013 to be the last for the E92/93, I would have probably waited. I am not sure where the misinformation came from; from BMW, from my SA, from the online forums, from news sources, or a combination of all of the above, etc. I am not planning to back out of this deal or postpone it, but was wondering the following scenarios to keep my options open: Questions, 1. If a production # is issued, and a deposit is already paid, but not the full amount yet, can someone back out of the deal and get their deposit back? 2. If a production # is issued, can someone change production/ delivery date? thanks. |

and if someone (BMW / MotorTrend / Speed TV / People Mag) had said that they would both continue until MY2013, and they actually stopped as MY2012, you'd be crying too...
look at the bright side of things, you have a M3. |

(but i might be a little pissed if My13 has significant interior/exterior changes) lol...i need to stop.. |

Is this not a published BMW Production Schedule (see bellow). Does it not make sense that a time span will be required to tool up and change the assembly line?
I purchase my M3 2012 (trading my former 2011) specifically because I wanted a fully loaded one manufactured in the last production year. Not that it is a big deal, anyway I based my decision on this attached schedule here in the forum.

Why is it such a big deal to get the last MY? I've been enjoying the e92 M3 since 2008, that is a much smarter choice than holding out if you ask me...

It's a mass-produced vehicle. The importance of this model being in its last year isn't as noteworthy as you make it. Why? Because as soon as the new-new M3/M4 drops, everyone will want that, in theory anyway. And you'll be left with the "older" model.

Anyway for future reference the 3 series coupe generally follows sedan by 1.5 years. SCOTT was not shy about telling anyone who would listen that the F32 coupe is coming in 2013. F32 mules did not even exist when people starting claiming they would be in production in mere months, so that was never a good gamble to begin with. And with no F32 imminent, you know the E92 was not going away. |

Haha I created that thread asking SCOTT26 specifically this question 6 months ago. BMW didn't want you to know this info back when you made your decision, so you got what BMW wanted you to get. I'd stick it back to them for hiding the info and decline your order if your deposit is still refundable.
Luckily for me I am/was so on the fence with the E92 that I'm willing to miss out completely on one in hopes of something better coming at the very end of It's life cycle. I took the power back from BMW! |

I just ordered my 2012 M3 two weeks ago and Ryan Amico am still waiting for allocation. Do not really care when the E92/93 production starts or ends. I just need mine ASAP!!!

There are the people who buy new technology for a step up on the competition and then there are the folks that buy the last year because
Lead, don't follow.

The last year is often the best and it sounds like he doesn't want to find out 3 months after he got his car that a 13 has a power bump, new options, etc. Mine is in production now and I'm not really concerned. I'm pretty sure they are not going to bump the power and thats the only thing that would bug me.

Why would anyone be pissed that such a great machine isn't ending? I don't comprehend. Gives people who want such a beastly car a chance to buy one.

The great part about BMW is that they are predictable. From following the e46 M3 timeline, you can already predict that the body style will stay the same for the entire production run with a refresh of the tail lights mid life that uses LEDs and then a competition model toward the end of the production run. So there is really no benefit to holding out because you can't get those years back when you could have been enjoying this great car. I missed the updated iDrive by a month and I knew it but that is one more month that I would not have been driving my M3 on the Nurburgring. I can always change it out later on if I want.

Not me. I'm enjoying my M tremendously. I'm still in disbelief that I got one.
