B&G springs or KW sleeve?
Im looking to lower my car just a little while keeping EDC. If I could just lower the the front 1/2" I would be happy, but since I cant, Im looking at B&G springs or the KW sleeve over kit.
I like the way the B&G's sit with the drop being 1" and .5" for the rear. Ive seen a couple threads where people have said they ride like stock, but it seems not to many people have them. Ive never heard of B&G and I'm curious if anyone has any experience with them on a car that has EDC? Here is a pic of B&G springs on a car EAS did. (I hope its ok I used this pic?) My other choice was to get the KW sleeve over kit. Which will give me the ability to set it how I see fit. Ive heard they ride good and Ive heard they ride pretty harsh. Which one it is? Ive also read that they seem to sag over time. I know all springs "settle" but it seems those continue doing so. Which would bother me if I get it set to the height I want, then have it aligned, only to have to do it all over again. Ideally, I want to set it and forget it. So does anyone have any suggestions on which route to go? Anyone here have B&G springs? Thanks!

I would do B&G or Coils. I don't trust those sleeve kits. I have H&R Sports on my car and recently drove my friends car w/ B&G. I should have gone that route. Much more stock ride.

I love my sleeve kit. Ride quality is great, and the adjustability is perfect.
The B&G's don't look low enough in the rear IMO.

Either the B&Gs or Sleeve Kit are good for the street. The B&Gs will give your M3 a predetermined drop while the Sleeve kit allows for some adjustability based on your specific needs. If budget allows for it, get the KW kit. If you want bang for the buck - go B&G.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of lowering the front more than the rear just to fill the fender gap. If you ever track your car, this will cause more weight transfer and affect the front/rear balance of the car. I prefer the adjustability of the KW S/O as most lowering springs don't lower front and rear equally. This is what mine looks like with KW S/O lowered approximately 20mm front and rear.

Ride will be similar to stock with either setup, neither are really intended for aggressive track use.

Thanks! Powder-coated gloss black.
Not intended, but actually the KW S/O (corner-balanced) handles very well on track w/EDC in sport mode. I have the lap times to prove it! Ride is also pretty good!

Glad you started this thread. Will be doing the same mod soon and was considering B&G. I don't want to keep adjusting or slam the car so those springs with set of E36 bump stops look perfect.

I realize that lowering the car front and back the same amount would mean the rear tries might be even or tucked under the fender wll while the font might have a fingers gap; but I dont like how that looks. To me the B&G look perfect. Even if I got KW, I would pretty much have them set how the B&G look. I just don't want to get those and have to set them more than twice. If you search you will find that some KW sleeve reviews mention continued settling. A friend of mine has the KW and his is setup similar to the B&G. Well, he might be a tad lower, but not much. He says it rides nice, BUT, comfort on the KW becomes what normal to almost sport EDC setting is on the stock springs. So I dont know if thats what I want to feel every day. I like the comfort mode when just cruising to and from work at a snails pace. I have no personal experience with either, but I trust his judgment.

If you don't want to deal with adjusting I'd just recommend the B&G route. If you are really particular about millimeters differences in ride height and corner balancing etc. then KW Sleeves. I think the B&G springs sit perfect for my car as well (another EAS photo ):

how come everyone has a E36 bump stop when they use these springs?
Is it mandatory to get those bump stops when using thes B&G springs? Is it a mandatory thing for every aftermarket springs? I'm looking into B&G and H&R springs as well as I just want the front wheel gap to be minimized. |

When you lower, you loss travel so they use those shorter bump stops to give some travel back. I don't think its mandatory, but it helps.

I thought perhaps I had something loose, but checked it three times until someone else with the kit mentioned he hears the same thing. The rear perch needs a rubber gasket or something (stock and some higher end coils have the rubber gasket) to absorb some of that road noise. Anyways, mine are coming off this tuesday. Im in the air over getting B&G or not. While my car looked awesome, bumps on the road sling shotted me out of my seat and he car upward way to fast. I felt unsafe at high speeds with dips in the road. For example, we have a freeway on ramp that has a bump in the middle of the apex. With my stock suspension my car absorbed it and moved on with confidence. With the KW, my car cornered well, but once it hit a bump, my car would ROCKET upward and throw the cars ballanace out of whack to the point I felt like I was going to loose control. And this is with a .5" DROP! So I might just go back to stock and be happy. I remember when the M3 had perfect fender gap compared to cars with 6" of wheel gap. So Im just going to go back to stock and be humble with a proper suspension setup.
