Colonial Challenge Cup track day @ Summit Point, April 13

A group of us is going next week (April 13th) to Summit Point for this track day: http://colonialchallengecup.com/default.aspx

It's set up as a charity event, the variety of cars is incredible, and during the lunch break you can get rides on track in various exotic cars. Last year I got a ride in a ZR1, F360 Challenge on slicks, and an Atom - it was a blast.

Last year I also took with me 3 newbies and needless to say, they had the time of their life. All of them have returned to the track afterwards - I guess it's contagious.

Friendly atmosphere, nice cars, reasonable price - what more could you ask for?

If it sounds like you're interested, send me a PM - I'm trying to organize a group/caravan. There's 3 of us already signed up.

For other people who are interested, I'll outline the procedure (those of you who have done this before will probably recognize it).

1. You download the PDF application form from their website, or I can email it to you.

2. You print it, fill it out and fax it to them.

3. They email you back a welcome package (good reading).

4. They might require a tech form which is essentially a verification checklist - any service shop can tick those boxes. Many board sponsors around the DC area do these for free - I can help you with that. It's also quite possible they will do this at the track.

5. You can show up at my house this Sunday, we're doing some brake pad changes. Good opportunity to see a DYI if you haven't before, and/or have a beer with us.

6. On April 13th in the morning, we head out around 6:30-7:00 AM. It's about 1h15min from here. (Or we can meet there).

7. You have the time of your life.

wow, thanks for the offer, it looks like fun, I won't have time to put my summer tires on by Apr 13, but I would love to see the pad change. I've read the DIY on this forum, but I'd like to see the equipment required.

I'm half tempted to keep my "winters" on - I'm running on Conti DWS in stock sizes.

But my summers only have another 1k-2k miles left in them, so I want to send them off in style...

You're more than welcome to come and take a peek - and perhaps we'll change your mind about participating...
