Swapping M3 Seats
Hi,
I was hoping someone would be able to give me some help. I recently bought a 2011 e90 M3. The seats are heated, memory, leather, but do not have adjustable lumbar support or power width adjustment. I didn't realize that the seats didn't have power lumbar support and they are very uncomfortable. I've been fighting with the dealership to swap the seats in from another M3 with lumbar support but they keep saying the seats won't work in my car. The part number for the seat module is the same whether or not the seat has lumbar or not. My understanding is that the power lumbar support and power width adjustment aren't part of the memory function for the seat, so I'm having a hard time understanding why they wouldn't just be a straight swap. The dealership is claiming that at the very least there would be re-coding required, at worst, that they will not work at all. Anybody have any thoughts or experience on this? Thanks, Derrick |

The side bolster adjustment works in every single m3 so if yours does not that is a warranty claim as that is not an extra option. The lumbar I am not sure if that was offered as extra or not, atleast not here in the U.S

Well this is funny, I have blogging about a similar issue with my seats on a different thread. My Canadian 2011 e 90 purchased 1 year ago was ordered with all options, including executive package. It came with heated seats and power lumbar and side bolsters, but only manual seats. I don't get it. I am in current discussions with my SA since I was told that power sears were not available, but from what I hear I beg to differ.

There was a change in the seat options and availability between 2011 and 2011.5 models and configurations in September 2010. This was confirmed in the US, but I never figured out exactly what happened with the seats in Canada in the different configurations. There have been a few threads discussing this in the past that are worth searching for.
This thread started by iksenna comes to mind: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=464999 Hope that helps you guys. W.
