Quick question about 2nd gear not engaging

Hey guys,
Just a quick question. Last night, I pulled off a red light pretty quick and when shifting into second, it seems as the gear was not engaged. The stick was in gear but It was as if the car was in neutral. This is probably a horrible explanation but I tried my best to explain. This has never happened before nor did it do it for the rest of the night. Any ideas?

Sorry if this is a stupid question as I\'m not quite the professional mechanic as most of you are.

Thanks a bunch,
Nicolò

this car is known to have notchy first to second when at high rpm. You need to ease into second gear instead of slamming it otherwise you might think your in gear but your in neutral or engaged half way and it will grind.

DCT FTW!!!

Sorry guys, couldn't resist.

Anyways, was it repeatable, or only a one time thing? Sometimes the 6M can be a bit finicky/notchy. Was the transmission still cold?

yes, i let go of the stick and it remained in second before i put it in 3rd hoping it would work (which it did). no grinding or anything. quite weird but it has yet to happen again. i was just curious to see if anyone knew of a reason this could happen. i have absolutely no complaints with the car.
