Exhaust Tip Sticking Our Further?
Hey Guys,
I just installed a Fabspeed xpipe on the M yesterday and noticed the tip of my Eisenmann sticks out a little further out. Roughly about an inch out pass the top piece. Is this normal? Or should I re-adjust it? Oh and my feedback on the xpipe Sounds a lot better on higher RPM. More throaty and raspy. Definitely feels a lot better on WOT. EDIT: Here are some pictures for reference. The first three are before I started the motor. The rest are after driving for 20 mins. Last edited by tha_good_life; 09-09-2011 at 08:17 PM.. |

I actually like the way yours (and mine) look.

The Eisenmann on my coupe doesn't stick out that far, but I wouldn't worry about it. Looks good!

Just for other newbies like me ...
Are you sure you're right here? The coupe is longer than the 4 door. So no matter which car he has, and which exhaust he has, on the Coupe you should find that the exhaust finishes in the same place or further forward. I think if you have a 4 door and fit the coupe exhaust (from some manufacturers) you will have too long tips - not that that has ever been a problem for me! lol

I think the fabspeed makes it stick out a touch farther. Even on my full fabspeed system, I believe it pushed the tips out a touch.

No. This is not correct. The Midsections between E90 and E92's are the exact same thing.
The rear sections are the exact same thing, except on the E90, the tips are about 8-10MM shorter. If he had an E90 exhaust on his E92, the exhaust would be more sunken in, not protruding. To the OP, is the fabspeed unit you purchased a cut and clamp unit that is meant to be used with the factory primary cats? If so, check to see that it is mounted in the proper location and in far enough. Another thing is, many exhaust systems will expand due to heat because they are not using hardened SS or heat treated SS. In some cases, the SS used is coming from a steel mill where nobody knows the quality of the manufacturing and the true grade and composition of the SS/tubing. At the end, all of them will expand, some will expand more than others.
