The quicker more agile 135i was just tested by Motor Trend. Reno-Fernley Raceway, lap distance 2.74 miles.

Motor Trend lap times:

135i - 163.93 sec

M3 sedan - 154.2 sec

Diff. of 9.73 seconds, I believe it would be a bigger gap with a stock 335i.

So to all the 335i fanboys thinking adding $10,000 worth of aftermarket parts to a 335i will make a car as fast as M3.

Think again.

The performance gap in lap times, is HUGE.

I like to see how much cash it would take to make up 10 plus seconds.
Cant happen.... on a drag strip maybe ( I am a 335 owner), but the M3 has an AWESOME LSD.... with a 73mph slalom apeed... it will blow a 335 or almost anything with 4 wheels on a track.

335 > M3 on the street (I am considering the price difference here so dont chew me out)

but an M car is in a league of its own on anything except straight roads

Don't like the M3? Think it can't hang with an i6 twin turbo? Want to tell us more about it?
The line starts here.............................................. ............

Congrats on your new car Larson... I mean, the title of the thread is "335i vs M3" .. if you've spent some time on the board, you know that's an invite to a flame-fest.

I thought you were another troll... sorry.

I can see why sometimes with how brutal things get here sometimes...

I lurk around the Mercedes forums sometimes and usually those guys are really chill. They could care less if someone said their car wasn't as fast, in the end they realize they still have a fast Mercedes Benz, and a majority of people in this world will never be fortunate enough to have really nice cars.

Your right the title of the thread is "335i vs M3" because thats what the thread was about, a person who owns an M3 who raced a 335i? Lol whats your suggestions for a title.............. The man merely gave some props to the 335i. The people who started flaming are the ones who turned it into a 335 vs M3 thread, not the original poster!

Thanks. But I think I'll take the corners too.

I'm getting a little suspension work done too this week. Nothing major tho.

give the dude a break, the 335 is a very capable straight line car, sure it

1. doesn't look as nice as the M3
2. handle as well
3. track as well
4. carry the prestige

but hey credit is due where credit is due, it's so damn easy to go fast, that's what I like about turbo cars.

with normally aspirated, you have to put much more $$ to get rwhp, but with turbo cars much easier.

No, what he meant is a 335i needs to be modded to close the gap with a M3. But if you touch it you may as well kiss the factory warranty goodbye if the car breaks down.

I agree the M3 is in a totally different league, a complete car overall, but you have to admit, you'd feel quite bad, if a 335 left you from the traffic light or on the highway and all you saw was his exhaust tips, credit is due, when modded it's fast.

mex, he's talking about any mods to vehicle voiding factory warranty, to my knowledge, the boost mods are not detectable when removed
