18's and Concave/Offset

I snapped these with my cell phone to show the dramatic concave of the 18" standard US spec wheels. I am sure the concave/offset of the 19" wheels are very similar but I believe the smaller diameter of the 18's make for a more dramatic looking concave. Anyways, enjoy....

The 19s are the same. I saw them in person and they are much more concave than they look in pictures. Looked great.

Very nice, I love the 18in wheels, have no regret not getting the 19s.

That orange peel is pretty extreme, every time i see it, makes me want to get my whole car wet-sanded.

I have seen both in person and the 19's start out a little flatter while the 18's basically start curving down towards the center right away. I think that combined with the taper in the spokes makes for a dramatic looking wheel. I think BMW should have offered different colors/finishes but the dark wheels will look good on the lighter colored cars.

Actually San Diego is in Southern California...you know that place with big buildings south of LA.

I like to wear as little as possible on my feet when I am not working....

Jellis,

Thanks for taking the time to post the photos. They look good in your pictures. I saw the 18's at a dealership in Vegas. I wasn't overly impressed, but the lighting wasn't the best. I was hoping for more but I am still thinking of moving in that direction. It seem like they would look better if they were lighter in color or simply a bit darker like the European version.

In my case, the 18's would save me much more than $1200. No need for EDC on the 18's with the increased sidewall: translation ride comfort. I would have to opt for EDC if I were to get the 19's due to the harsher ride. 18's will also perform better in poor driving conditions such as snow and of course replacement tires are cheaper. The 18's are also the choice for the track.

I would give up EDC if I could but I want the ZTP....oh well

Part of me wants to basically get a completely stripper version with just MDCT as basically my only option. However, comfort access is too cool for school and I think customizing the M button through Mdrive is also going to be lots of fun....

This is what I'm currently thinking as well for when I order my '09... 18's, AW, Cloth, Carbon leather, and a few other other options - but no iDrive. Right around $61k for an E92 the way I want it

Ha, brilliant minds think a like. Want a true all around performance bargain with less weight, stealth, practicality, and reliability to boot? How about an E90 M3 sedan with 6MT, non metallic paint, and speed cloth sporting those lovely 18s? BMW will likely be taking a small loss on this one and a stealership will surely discourage such rational thinking. How often does BMW take a loss from a paying customer? I would grin from cheek to cheek if I could pull that off with our friends at Porsche, but they are bit too greedy to afford anyone such opportunity.

Oh ya, Trust me when I say 4 doors come in mighty handy when bandying about on campus.

i like the stripper idea too. but ended up with premium casue I dont want black on black. then I added tech becasue I wanted EDC and then you get Mdrive and i-drive is not so bad ( I was a supreme i-drive basher at one time).

and then Ilooked at the 18's and they are way too dark to go with jet black - and dont weigh as much as we once thought. so its 19's for me.

my e46 was basically a stripper - no moonroof and only option was leather (to get memory seats and adjustable boslter sna gain avoid black on black.
