Haha , This makes me feel bad for the kid at my gym that is dying to run my car. His car is FBO. Just FYI That car is making 350-375whp TOPS on a stock turbo.

Yes, if the EVO was making 475 AWHP, it would beat the M3 making 375 RWHP. EVO was not making 475 AWHP except perhaps on some kind of very optimistic dyno.

My X made 316 awhp (Mustang) at 26lbs on 93 octane gas, and 387 awhp (and 404lb/ft torque) at 27lbs on e85. No way in hell that Evo is making that claimed power- my X (on e85) would totally eat a non-SC e9x on straight acceleration.

Guys OP said “fully build on low boost” so maybe this is an upgraded turbo or something more than just bolt on stock turbo. Maybe 475 on high boost so a bit lower on low boost.

Guys... the FBO car the M3 not the Evo !! The Evo has a fully built engine, cammed, ported head, big turbo and was only tuned at 20psi on 94octane making 475AWHP because his injectors and fuel pump were not big enough to go in the 35psi range where his car should be on race gas making 700+AWHP !!

Evo at 387awhp and m3 at 380rwhp.. i would run you anytime anywhere on a roll and i bet you that the M3 would pull on you in every gear

You'd have been pretty sore looking at my tail lights.

I do note that you stipulate "from a roll", where my 100+ lb/ft of torque and launch control would have less impact on the results. Looking around at what e9x's are putting down on Mustang dynos, it looks like bolt-on cars are running in the 350-370 range.

Interesting; do you know if he was running on wastegate pressure, or was under boost control? If the boost control was turned off, then the wastegate would have been bleeding boost throughout the run, which could easily explain the poor results.

Evo 8/9's were such a different animal. X's are just soft IMO.

Under Boost control !! Result was in my opinion very accurate both car have around the same weight... the Evo has about 100bhp more but AWD so less top end power compared to the M3 !! As you can see he pulled around a car on me and when i started to pass him we were at 140-145mph so its just normal that i was able to pull on him on top !!

Having owned both a VIII and X, yes, the X tried to move upmarket (and a fully spec'd out X having an MRSP of $44k). The VIII and IX were certainly more bare and edgy. What I will say, though, is that the X was a much better car. My stock X on Advan AD08 was about a second faster around MSR Cresson than my 330awhp VIII MR on RA1s.

+1

The Evo X is much faster and better handling on track due to the revised suspension and the addition of S-AYC. I was able to run 2 seconds faster at Thunderhill with similar set up on my Evo X vs my 05 Evo 8 (same as Evo 9 but without the MIVEC motor).

As far as building power, the Evo X responds better to tunes and light bolt-ons than the Evo 8/9. Once you go bigger turbo and built motors, the Evo 8/9 shine.

What does AWD have anything to do with top end power? If he's putting down 475 awhp (which of of us doubt is really the case), the parasitic loss due to the drivetrain should already be accounted for in the dyno numbers.

You said it yourself...

I own an Evo 9 that only puts down 389whp and it destroys my bolted on M3 from a dig or a roll. To say that a car with almost 100+ extra whp can keep up with an m3 with similar mods is hard to believe.

evo X MR w/ full exhaust, intake, tune,injectors+e85 26lbs boost vs my FBO m3= m3 FTW 20 roll
Close race but M3 wins top end

evo x GSR w/full exhaust, intake, tune, intercooler, downpipe+injectors but 91 oct(all cobb tuning and parts) vs my FBO m3=M3 FTW 20 roll

Off the line the MR has NO SHOT, the GSR that i pulled with the kid couldn't launch it so i took him off the line.

Through the canyons THEY ALL LOSE MUAHAHA, so while everybody argues about stats this is all based on what i saw...Both amazing cars i prefer the M3 all day, to each his own.

Fbo e92 m3 with dct is a fast car. Out on open road at speed and if you keep rpms above 6k, the thing beats a lot of cars. Certainly faster than my stock f80
