M3 Akrapovic GT4 exhaust tune help!!!!
Okay so I got the gt4 exhaust, after three months, I'm finally driving the car, exhaust sounds real good, except drone and random drops, and sticky rpm's. I've got a ESS tune fir the RPi straight mid section and AA exhaust.. Really need a tune with the gt4 setup. any tuners out there whose worked on the GT4 yet?

The Akrapovic evolution is somewhat unique, because it has cats but they are further downstream. So, it needs a different tune than most exhausts. The GT4, without cats, should be just like any other catless exhaust in terms of flow.
If you haven't been driving the car, just drive it for awhile, the DME is pretty smart and will figure things out in a few hundred miles. When I put my Akrapovic Evolution on, I had a really soggy bottom end and the car was cranky in the midrange, just some part throttle drive cycles and a few WOT runs cleared things right up. |

Btw, when I had the akrapovic evolution, I didn't have this problem with my current tune at the time, only when I went with the gt4..

I just installed the Akra GT4 catless mid-pipe last week. Of course I have the ESS S/C and tune, but so far no issues.
The car sounds like a frikken monster and LOVE IT!

Its VERY loud compared to EVO, Best Exhaust ever. i went through about 4 sets of exhaust, and definitely loved the GT4 the most.

Just as MRE90M3 stated it is much louder than the Evo system, much louder. You will wake the neighbors with the cold start alone! I Love It!

Yeah but the Dinan is quad resonated where the GT4 is straight piped. I can say after running a catless/resonator less RPI exhaust its TOO loud! The GT4 is made of Ti so its gonna sound a little different and it has an H Pipe to help deal with the rasp. The resonators really help with the sound.

There seems to be a huge discrepancy into what sounds good. Perhaps it's an age thing as suggested. Perhaps it's me, as I have been down the heavily modified road with other cars and I'm 38 now. That being said, I like some aggressive sound and think ideally an adjustable exhaust would be the best compromise but who has that money. Doesn't anyone have kids and mortgage among the many other expenses. Anyway, I find straight exhaust to be everything this car is not. Refinement is what BMWs are all about, for me at least. Bottom line is get what you like. I can't decide, as any drone is unacceptable and so is 3k for an exhaust. Thinking out loud
