HELP! Coin dropped behind ashtray, how to take apart?

The circled small area...I dropped a coin back there and everytime I make a turn I can hear it roll to the other side. It's back behind the whole assembly (behind the ashtray) and so pulling out just the ashtray does nothing. How do I take apart the shifter assembly to get to the coin?

Peter

Do you have a good relationship with your dealer, service advisor or sales advisor? If so, just take it in and tell them the situation they should remove it and take the coin out on the spot.. Good luck

LOL, yes I do, I would just prefer to do it myself as that way I can guarantee no scuffs or scratches.

to take the center piece off, you need to remove the gear shift first

Hi- Annoying coin behind ashtray.
Pull Gear knob gaitter in the Corner and it will lift up - No need to remove gear Knob.
Gently pull the Plastic Trim either side and small clicks will happen as the trim starts to Lift.
Take your time working your way round until you can lift up.
By turning the trim you can lift over the gear Knob and gaiter.
You will have to remove wires to I-Drive unit and Cigarette Lighter. these just pull out.
You will then be able to turn the Trim upside down- with a shake coin will Drop out.
Mine was a £2.00 coin -- I put it on the Lottery and won £10.00

Hope this helps-- good Luck---Should only take 10mins

I had this happen. Two quarters. Im guessing they fell in front of the door/cover and try are rolling behind there. If that is the case, close the ashtray, take your hand and hit the side of your console on the passenger or driver side and the coins will lay flat. Open the ashtray and check. You can then use a paper clip or something to pull them out. Hope this helps!

Look at my post above and also remember to take the ashtray out too. No need to rip apart the center console if they are where I think thy are

If your a non smoker, you may want to consider this while you have the console apart:

Sunglass holder/ashtray replacement
