Thoughts on the Necksgen Rev Head/Neck Restraint

I'll be putting a roll bar and 6pt harness in my car in a few weeks and need to pick up a head/neck restraint unit. I know Hans is the gold standard but their products don't provide lateral protection. I heard that the Necksgen Rev does have that protection. What are your thoughts on the unit (see link below)?

I have the Necksgen device and like it. It is very lightweight and can't even notice it is there. I bought it because it seems to have more built in features and function than the HANS brand devices. And as a bonus it was a bit less $$ as well.

Thanks for the input. Does it give you good range of motion with turning your head to the side? Yeah, it's almost 1/2 the price of the best Hans unit.

The Necksgen restraint is an excellent device. It uses tethers to anchor the helmet, so it gives you good range of motion by design. It weighs about the same as an adjustable HANS, so it's also not very heavy at all.

Any issues with pre-drilled helmet hole locations with the Neckgen REV? Reason I ask is pretty much all pre drilled helmets are optimized for HANS tethers. Also, for helmets that come with HANS anchors are you able to use them with the Necksgen or do you need to use Necksgen specific anchors? I have a feeling the HANS anchors are proprietary and you need to take them off...which I hear can be a pain depending on the helmet padding design.

I'm really tempted by the Neckgen REV though because it offers side impact protection (without body straps!), is adjustable, light and way cheaper than a HANS device. Not many downsides...

I think the anchors are different between the 2. I bought the hans a year ago before I knew anout nextgen or I would have considered it instead. Less money, more protection seems like a no brainer.

The necksgen uses the same pre-drilled holes as a HANS, but has its own posts that you screw in. You should be able to unscrew your HANS posts, and put these in. It works pretty well from what i've seen, very similar to the Hans quick-clips.

i have the necksgen and love it...i tried both the hans and the necksgen... the necksgen uses a 2 tether system the provides forward and rear as well as lateral that you would want in a roll over situation. hans only offers front and rear protection. one thing i did not like is how the hans plate rubbed on the back of my helmet and drove me crazy...

as far as anchors they go in the same location as the hans but are completely different. i like the design of how the necksgen plug into the anchors V.S. the snap design of the hans... if possible you should try both on if you have a chance and see what you like more.

I was going through the same debate few weeks ago. The few reviews you can find on Necksgen are all positive. My only concern is if they get into another litigation issue down the road, will the company still be around for support? With the prices of the HANS Sport II now at the same price as Necksgen ($599), I Just opted for the HANS.

Yeah it provides lots of side to side movement so you can turn your head. Overall a better product and better value compared to the HANS brand.

HANS sued Necksgen I believe for copyright infringement a couple years back... But nothing that would concern me as a consumer.

Without the braces that go down your chest (like HANS has) how does the device prevent itself from rolling forward on your shoulders in an accident? It doesn't look like it would provide much forward restraint.

Its got the area that rest on top of the delts where the top belts go that would keep the Rev stuck to your body.
