Yes, but a recent study revealed that the average McDonald's worker in Europe makes the same as a CEO in America and enjoys a better retirement program

I appreciate the offer. However I'm not concerned about M-DCT reliability, and mine's being produced the first week of M-DCT production. However, I'll accept a ride anytime regardless of the mechanical status of my M-DCT.

I do not get it either, but I am an American in Germany, Romania has
some great areas, Buy a used american spec from a military guy
and you still get BMW warranty, just have to get it from Germany to
Romania and pay GST

Jeez, I remember the day when I had to pay $2,500 for the 6MT option in my 540i.... I gladly paid it and LOVED it (my UUC shortshifter made all the difference).

Now I am shelling out $2,700 (plus tax) for an auto. I wonder what the consensus would be if BMW offered the 6MT for a charge and the M-DCT as a no-cost option. I really hope the old saying holds true in life-- "you get what you pay for"

I hope i get the same thrills or better as my old 6mt.

How times have changed....

Nope, BMW used to charge you extra for the 6MT M sport package. It was the only way to go with the 540i... Now, it seems like you pay a heavy price with the auto.

Guess they know people will pay more for the performance.
It's only around $1,400 more in an Audi
And it's only $1,075 more in a VW GTI

The DSG adds 51 lbs in the VW/Audi.
So the 44 lbs BMW is adding to the weight is right in the ballpark (their 6 speed manual is probably a bit heavier than VW/Audis).

But $2,700 Wow, that's a bit steep. In many cars you don't pay that much difference between a V6 and a V8 ENGINE!!

What's amazing is there is a $5,700 difference between an M3 Sedan 6MT and a M3 Coupe with MDCT.
Again, that's like the difference in price between many car companies small car and their midsize car. BMW wants that much just for a 2 door and MDCT of the same car.

Is the carbon fiber roof only on the M3 Coupe? if so that would mostly explain the $3000 price difference.
The reason why it's soooooo expensive is because it's a 7 speed that can reliably (hopefully) withstand shifts up to 9000 RPM. This system is far more advanced then Audi & VW.
