Wow, this thread makes me feel pretty good about my marriage. Wife doesn't really give a crap what I do with my cars. She'll make the occasional side comment on some of the bigger moves (e.g., "what are you going to do with 3 sports cars when we only have a 2 car garage and my car is in one of the two?") but those are usually good points*

It cuts both ways though, if I expect to be left alone on my car/other toys decisions, I can't give her crap when she buys clothes, shoes or cameras.

* btw the answer is sublet parking from my neighbors.

I found a simple solution... She wanted an iPAD, so I bought her the iPAD and she didn't seem to notice/care about all the random boxes arriving at the house. Plus, the iPAD entertains her, so I get some peace and quiet after work. Yeah, sure, the iPAD will lose its draw after a few months, but then I will just her something shiny too look at.

BTW If anyone has any good ideas about where to hide the original cat back section of an e92 exhaust please let me know before next weekend ...............
This time I was a little bit smarter when the new M3 came home.I already had the exhaust on it & the BBK installed. She asked about the sound later but I said this one is a comp coupe and it came with the louder exhaust just like her 335IS didIt is the 16 track wheels & tires in the garage that gets her mad

My god $20,000 put aside without her knowing! Change your screen name to Houdini the mod master! you sir are in another league of money hiding and parts modding.

I know ... after purchasing a 2011 M3 late in 2010, I figured I best tell her I want to trade the car in last November or a divorce would have been on the horizon

As it is al turned out well, she made the final decision when I was very close to purchase Mark's M ... she said "Get yourself a new one" naturally she did not have to say this twice

Have you ever been married? If so, has it been more than once?

The appropriate saying if you want to prevent losing half of your stuff (or more) is "It is better to get the wife's acceptance than ask for forgiveness later."

That being said, my wife did let me get the Dinan Stage I on my previous BMW. It just takes the right approach...or the correct wife.

Yes, happily to wife #1 for almost 19 years now! I said it was an old saying but I didn't say I lived that way...

I put an exhaust on the car while the GF was out of town. Everytime she is in the car, I shift I at 2500 RPM and she still hasn't notice. However, she keeps asking me where the hell I learned to drive a stick. What she doesn't know won't hurt her.

When I told my GF I was buying an m3 she said I shouldnt. Later that week she told me she wanted a pair of Louie Vuitton shoes. Hmmm..... Any way I am driving the car. And she got the shoes two months later. We pay for it one way or another right.

Agreed. Big diff for me between a $900 intake vs. $6k on a set of HREs.
