Yes, S6 will break your neck. That's why DCT posters only ever post "I'm going to try S6 tonight" and then we never hear from them again. Shame but that's how it goes. Blasted S6.

Yes, I always drive in S5 and depending on the throttle application/RPM, you get a very satisfying "kick/chirp" when it shifts. Wide open throttle feels the same, but part throttle was diminished by a software change a couple of years ago.

Yeah sorry for breaking your ba11s !

How is Moscow at this time of year ? I was there in the summer but I'd say it's pretty cold at the moment.

I don't know exactly, I only know that prior to the software update, you got a satisfying "kick" with gear changes at partial throttle and at 4-5k rpm, but not after an software update. As I stated, the "kick" seems the same at full throttle and high RPM, but not other times.

It feels good, but it is not like the SMG. With SMG, when the clutch disengages, the engine is disconnected from the drive train. After the transmission shifts and when the clutch engages, all that drive train "slack" is taken out....., immediately. It feels/sounds like the differential has fallen out. Very traumatic.

With the DCT, the forward push and torque to the drive train does not stop during gear changes. I am sure that this is the primary reason the 0-60 times are better with the DCT.

This is going to boil down to a matter of your opinion, so you absolutely need to drive one yourself and draw your own conclusions.

That said, IMHO, you will get the sensation you are looking for from an M3 DCT. It doesn't feel the exact same as an M5, because it is a different type of transmission obviously. But it does provide a nice kick in pants in a similar way to the M5 does. Unless you are trying real hard to hate this transmission, its really tough not to become fond of it.

S5 will give you a very solid kick/bump with each shift at say half throttle or more, might even chirp the tires once in a while.

S6 will definitely kick the back end, even to the side, and since DSC has to be off for S6 it will most definitely chirp the tires.

Yep. S5 (with DSC off) will kick the back out a bit. For a lot of fun, S6 is the ticket. Depending on traction levels, tire temps, etc., it can really get fun! On a hot summer day with good traction, you will get chirp, but not much else.

LOL .. thought the thread title was funny. I thought right away of SMG; which the DCT certainly is not.
