BMW UK Extended Warranty?

BMW will charge me £600 ($1000) for the Comprehensive cover for the year. My car has 37,000 miles on the clock, and had very few issues.

Would it me a mistake to let the warranty lapse?

Does the warranty help much when it come to sale?

And which option should i go for (if i do)?
-Comprehensive
-Named Parts
-Driveline (Max £5000 claim on the Named parts)

How likely is a mechanical issue going to cost me £5000+ ($7768+)...

yes....yes....and yes

You should take the comp warranty...as when things do go wrong its will hits you hard
£600 is really cheap by the way......on the e60 M5 its £1k+

oh do pay by direct debit as then the warranty will continue without limitations on mileage

ps ...just the engine will cost you £5k+ !!

If anyone else is thinking about this but has modified then read on:

Page 7 section 6 point 4 - This BMW InsuredWarranty will not cover - "an insured vehicle that has been subject to alterations, has had experimental equipment fitted or has in any way been modified from BMW’s approved specification"

If I am reading that right then BMW won't cover their own performance mods?

Regardless, thats me out then!

You'd have thought the BMW Performance Mods would fall under 'approved specification'

You're not.

BMW performance mods are approved and will not affect your warranty in any way unless it has been ill fitted by some monkey.

i'd say yes.

I took out a warranty on my 5 series and the suspension pump failed. 1200quid to get it fixed which made me a profit of 800quid!

I'll def consider this when my AUC warranty expires next year.

Are these fixed prices, of is there room to haggle with dealers?

So are these warranty prices published, or are they 'made up by the dealer' prices similar to 'gap' insurance.

Warrantywise have quoted me £603 for a year or ~£900 for 2 yrs. The coverage is more comprehensive than BMW and no £5k limit. The excess I used was £50 and the labour is for the car to go to BMW. With regards to servicing, only genuine parts and adherence to the scheduled maintenance have to kept so one can take the car to an indy.

BMW don't cover oil leaks on their warranty either!

yes ...but are they quick to payout when the time comes .....that is the major question .....as BMW uk has always settle pretty quickly judging be the info on the forums , also bear in mind a Bmw car with Bmw warranty is worth much more than one with a warranty from warrantywise

I have no personal experience of either.

Why would you value a less comprehensive warranty higher just because it says BMW? Do you have any facts to back up your statement above?

it the preception people have that a warranty from the manufacturer is better than any afternarket warranty

I just got a quote on mine through BMW/Mondail (0871 2000199) for a lapsed warranty policy, it was £914yr so somewhere near £72mth, If I were to have a £100 xs it would bring it down to £713yr, And with £250xs (which is ridiculous) would cost £538.

Warranty wise quoted online £592, but have called with £492 or £44.75mth + a £35 admin fee, or 24mths for £852, And 36mths for £1203.

Warranty direct are looking at £589yr.
