test driving means very little to me personally. I know what car i want after lots of research. I leased a 2011 328ix (winter car) without test drive. I told my sales guy at the dealership that i am 100% set on a M3. He said do you want a test drive ? i said "sure". That was my first time driving a M3 LOL. I knew pertest drive M3 was the man after driving other BMWs and reading reviews.

I have a general idea how most cars will drive like.

First time I drove my M3 was after I got off the plane to drive it 1100 miles home. Best drive ever!

Same thing here! =) Bought it from an owner, and the first drive was back home through freaking DC after 7 years of driving no manual cars at all. That was a nightmare, but the best nightmare in my life so far =)

test drove an '11 E90 a few months ago -- it was my first time driving an M3. I was shocked at how smooth and comfortable everything felt. Dealer wouldn't budge on the price, so I sort of gave up on it for a while. A few months later, I found an '11 E92 CPO at my local dealer -- bought it with no test drive. I've had it 2 weeks and have loved every minute of it.

Unbelievable, a V8!!!!

In the Spring of 2008, with the Family in the SUV we were driving past the BMW Dealership and I pulled in. I left the motor running and told my Wife and Teenage Kids I'd be back in a few minutes. They all yelled, "what are you doing?" I returned in 5 minutes and told them I had placed a deposit on a new M3 without ever having driven one. Surprisingly everyone said "Finally!" I guess I had been driving them nuts!
LOL, that's awesome! I was fortunate enough to test drive a 2011 e92 6mt. CA had the car in M mode when I got in and after taking from the first light and going around some corners I was sold. That was in about 5 min.

Same, rode in E46M3 several times but never driven or rode in E92. I'm sure I won't regret it though, loved it since it first came out in 2008. Finally got a 2013.

Same here. Test drove it for maybe 15 min and pulled back in to the dealer and said "OK. Mine now."

Owned a 318i in 2001 and ordered the e46 ///3 after seeing the pics from the launch at the Frankfurt motor show. Drove the car for the first time when I picked up. Same with the e92 ... Drove for the first time the day I picked up. Easy divisions ... It's an ///3 and it has to drive beautifully. No regrets.

I bought a used one from a dealer today and its my first car and i have my driving test in 3 weeks.

08 Black with red leather and 22k on the clock and has £5k of extras and i paid £27k. Was the exact color combo i was looking and lower miles then i was looking for in this price so i could not pass it up.

Bought the car blind and not sen it in person yet but will be delivered next week.

I did consider getting a new but used i was able to buy outright.

Went in to my local dealer intent on buying a 13 335i coupe, left with a 13 E92 M3.... Best decision I have made in a while on a car purchase. Drove the M off the lot w/o a test drive. No regrets.

I ordered both my M3s (my E46 in 2001 and my E92 in 2008) before they were available at the dealers. So no test drive for me.

Congratulations on a gorgeous first car. Be careful though I don't want to read in a couple months a rip thread. I know myself if I had that as my first car at 16 I would of totaled it most likely.

Did the exact same thing and though I lost money as I already had a order in for the f30 I don't regret a thing.

Haha...exact same story with me and my Civic too.

Wife and I went to the dealership to 'look' at one and I ended up driving my E90 SSII off the lot. Thank God after I did some research (when I got home WITH the car) I realized I had the Tech package, cold weather package, and premium sound! Whew!

I love every minute of my time in the car...and CPO on top of it all.

Been there, done that a few times with my other BMW(s) too (740i Sports and 525i) that I owned in the past. Sometimes the emotions of buying a BMW moves faster than the brain thinks.

No regrets, either.

Same stories as TheDeliverator, odiesback, & alee0729.

A friend of mine has a 328i, so I drove that once to lunch and back.

Then I was making preparations to order a 335is, via European Delivery.

On a weird moment, I looked at the BMWUSA website and noticed the "M" across the top and thought, what's that?

Clicked on it and saw the M3 Convertible...that was "it." I e-mailed my sales expert (Adrian Avilla) and wrote "I want an M3 Cabriolet instead."

The first time I ever drove any M3 was on the victory lap at the BMW Welt in Munich. It took about 0.00000000001 seconds to realize it was the absolutely, perfect vehicle for me.

I think another poster in here wrote something like "having driven other performance cars, I knew the M3 was right."

Having grown up on high-speed motorcycle riding, I knew that the M3 was right.

You'll love it. Do not be apprehensive -- convert all that anxious energy into plotting road courses for when you've got your baby!
