Consider that it's a header back system with high flow cats and made of titanium and comparable in cost to quite a few of the stainless systems for an equal setup I think it's actually a good deal. Certainly a better deal to me than a $12K ti Ericsson or a similarly priced Vorsteiner/Encore Innovation badged ti system.
Also, from BMW to spec a Ti Akrapovic for their GT4 factory racecar is a considerable endorsement, for peace of mind if not some bragging rights. |

update
I have received a few PM's asking more about the sound of this exhaust so I figured an update was in order.
At idle it a good bit louder than stock, under acceleration up to around 4k it's definitely louder but a much better sound (to my ears). Above 6k it's not that much louder. At cruising it's definitely no louder than stock. Before putting the exhaust on I took a long road trip with my non-autoenthusiast brother and did a shorter trip with him today. He agreed that it was no louder at cruising with this new exhaust. My father-in-law looked at me like I was a schmuck when I started the car today but then again he routinely drives his lexus 55mph in the left lane. The Akrapovic exhaust is definitely expensive but looks to be extremely well engineered. When you put together the cost of the other exhausts plus xpipes it's not all that much more for a much more exotic system. There does feel to be more torque in the middle rev band with this exhaust installed. Not as punchy down low as my prior 335 but that engine didn't pull to redline like this one does. At the track yesterday was looking forward to inflicting an all out db assault but I was a bit overshadowed by the Porsche Daytona prototype and the multiple Porsche Cup cars that were running. Oh and don't forget the 430 Scuderia, the 599's, 360 Strasdale and the Ford GT. I asked my friend how I sounded going by and he said "pretty quiet". Guess I didn't stand much chance against a Daytona Prototype and Ferrari's best? Seems there is always somebody with a bigger gun. That being said I am enjoying the overall sound change inside of the car with this new exhaust. I still need to hear it from the outside going by, but to do so I'd have to let somebody else drive it. I've been fortunate to have experienced some exotic cars on the track and I think the M3 engine is stellar. Loves to rev and does not run out of breath at the upper end of the rev range like most cars. Except for the back straight where the M can get up to around 140/145mph the remainder of the track can be taken in either 2nd or 3rd (mostly 3rd). The engine in the 911S tends to lose steam around 1500rpm below redline and is best shifted early. The GT3 engine is great and keeps pulling. I have read many good and many bad reviews of the DCT and for my part I think it is a brilliant transmission. Smoother than the auto in my prior 335 when tooling around town and very responsive on the track. The biggest downfall of the M3 is it's mass. I love this car and would definitely buy it again but this a great road car that can be used on the track, not a great track car. Even the 430 scuderia has compromises built into it that a dedicated track car does not. I expect to track this car once a week as well as use it as my daily driver. Providing finances cooperate I'll likely invest in a track only toy in 3 years or so. Perhaps a Radical or Ariel Atom? We are all fortunate to have an M3. |

beautiful exhaust. this is what i call a quality product. price becomes irrelevant, as others already stated, it's not even that high compared with others.

Very nice exhaust system.
Does anyone know if a car with this exahust will still pass emissions tests - more specifically CA emissions tests? The Akropovic website does say that the pipes come with "2 x 100 cpsi sports catalysts...." Also, any updates on whether any error messages come up with the exhaust installed? |

so just to clarify, it is 5k for the whole system? or just the muffler? and for the whole system, do we need a software or anything so that CEL's dont come up? and what about inspections in the US? will we encounter any problems?

the exhaust looks so good. But here is my situation. I currently have an AA X Pipe with HFC mated on a Eisenmann Race exhaust. I really want to get the Akra Evo system but power wise would I be gaining or loosing? What you guys think? Weight has to be taken into consideration too. As I think the Akra system is lighter than my system now? Correct me if I'm wrong. And I was just worried with smog and emissions tests in the US? And just o2 sensors always failing? I dont want to tune the ECU and I dont want to always need to change the o2 sensors from them burning out. Anyone with past experience could chime in on this? Not too familiar with o2 sensors so hope someone could help me out. All I've heard is that they burn out very often. I was also thinking of doing the Akra muffler and mating it to my AA X pipe with HFC. What you guys think? I love the way the tips look on the Akra man! Orgasmic. haha. Let me know what you guys think!

Aheville is probably the last place I'd expect to find a distributor, very cool.

I'd be interested in if the Lambda simulators code after a little while. My sources tell me they have been notoriously inconsistant at preventing codes in the past. Not referring to Akro, but in general. Anyone care to elaborate more? I am curious as to how they work.

Meh...I don't think this is worth 6k, but to each their own. I'd rather buy a Rolex.

Titanium is expensive and difficult to work with. I think for a titanium exhaust system with its concomitant weight savings and better looks, that $6K is certainly reasonable.
I have one question: given that the system has cats, am I to understand that this will pass emission tests?
