Love the new additional menus in LED version and thank you for sharing with us!
But the shift lighting (green, red blinking) seems a bit too much (at least in the small video screen)/

I think I can stick with my old LED version for now. I kinda like the orange lighting matching with rest of interior lightings at night on mine. =)

I have two questions, and I'm wondering if anyone can help please?

1. Are the displays of either of the electronic wheels affected by polarised sunglasses (like the radio)?
2. Are the rev-counter lights fully programmable? I understand the first electronic wheel only had adjustment for the 'start' rpm, and the lights operated over a small subsequent rpm range. It would be nice to stipulate the start and end points for the light sequence, just like a normal shift light units. Hopefully the new one has more options!

Any other comments comparing electronic wheels version 1 and 2 (beyond the appearance), if anyone has tried both?

1. The clear plastic in front of the LCD has a slight issue at the corners with polorized sunglasses. It's actually a little annoying!

2. You can program the end RPM for sure but I haven't seen an option that will let you program both start and end. If you set it to 8000 rpm it will start to warn you at some predefined start rpm (a few hundred RPM before) then the LEDs will ramp up and blink when it hits 8000 rpm.

This is a great point -- about the "start" point of the shift lights
The 1st one was very high -- so the shift lights did not come on till around 6500 rpm (i think)

Anyways, could you check and see, maybe with a buddy or camera mounted -- at what rpm the shift lights come on?

You can adjust when the lights come on (or off), but the operating range is not adjustable (at least with version 1). I would love it if they started at, say, 3000rpm, and gradually increased until all on and flashing at 8000rpm. With the old wheel it seems the 'start' and 'flashing' range is only a few hundred rpm! It's essentially like a single shift light then, rather than indicating revs like other rpm units.

If you can set at what RPM the lights come on AND off, then you could set them to start (come on) at 3000rpm and end (or flash) at 8000 rpm and that would be the same as setting a 'range'

But just like the 1st PSW ... i dont think this one has a start point setting. Does it?

Sorry, haven't had a chance to go look. It's my weekend car and I've been busy during the week. However, I don't recall seeing any option to set the start point. You can only set the end point. If I have time this weekend I'll set a low end point and see what the default range is.

I wanted to check and make sure that the OEM BMW E9x Sport Steering Wheel Trim {Alcantara} will work with the new Non-Electric Tri Stitched PSW or any of the PSWs for that matter. Will the color of the Alcantara trim match the new steering wheels Alcantara color or are they different?

Ok, after work and after dinner I finally had a chance to take the car out for a quick spin to do some testing with the wheel to answer some of your questions regarding the RPM range.

For the newer performance wheel the RPM range (start/end) points depends on your end point setting. So for example:

END - START
3500rpm - 2800rpm
4000rpm - 3200rpm
5000rpm - 4100rpm? (guess, i can't remember exact)
6000rpm - 5000rpm? (guess, i can't remember exact)
7000rpm - 5800rpm? (guess, i can't remember exact but this one I'm pretty sure is correct)

I'll need to have someone in the car with me to record it while I'm testing. At least you get an idea on how it works. Although you can't tweak the starting point, the range in which the light first lights up does expand to a bigger range the higher you set the shift light RPM.
