Been very busy lately. Made some serious headway with the coding flash drive in the last week. Everything fits on an 8GB flash drive It's almost ready to go, just wrapping up some finishing touches.

Now that the flash drive solution is almost complete, I can send one out to test for the MDM/M Button features. This makes remote coding quite a bit easier as only a flash drive and cable need to be shipped as opposed to a netbook. I will be updating the site and writing a FAQ in the next week or so, and then the first batch of flash drives will start shipping.

You will have the option of keeping the flash drive for future remote coding needs, or sending it back. Also need to update the coding list with new features
Oh nice! I'm very excited for the mbutton coding. Are you optimistic that it will work?

Hopefully the customer will have time to report back once it's completed.

I must say that it's great shipping a small box VS sending the netbooks as I used to. Cuts down on shipping cost and risk of loss quite a bit. For now, it's in the hands of our faithful Fedex.

ThreeIS: I'm always optimistic - I think it's definitely possible. However, I would prefer to have a local donor car to test it out on first.
Mike, excuse my ignorance on the subject. But would any pre-2011.5 car qualify for testing of the mdm / m-button coding? I thought I had read somewhere in here that you needed a 2011 and a 2011 only.

Any car works that doesn't have it.

Ideally I would like two cars of the same year, one with the features, one without. This way I can directly look at changes between the two cars. I would like the car without the MDM features to have iDrive, as it removes some variables from the equation. Once I determine exactly what I have to do, it should work on all of the vehicles whether equipped or not equipped with iDrive.

It might be a matter of programming, not coding. This isn't a big deal as I can flash whatever version I want into the modules as long as the hardware is the same.

----

Working on responding to the last chain of emails before I head to San Diego on Business. Anyone between LA and San Diego, contact me if interested in coding as I will be there until Monday. My first stop is South Bay BMW to do a BMW apps retrofit on a service advisors E90.

I returned home from a trip yesterday, look for an update to the thread soon!

Mike just completed a remote coding session on my car which was really slick, and it worked perfectly. Mike sent me a flash drive with the necessary software and the proper cable to connect to the car. I loaded the software only my own laptop, then I allowed Mike to remotely connect into the computer. Mike went over with me a big list of possible options and suggestions for coding; then he proceeded to perform the coding on my car. Everything turned out perfectly, and Mike was great about letting me know exactly what he was doing while he performed the coding. I'm returning the flash drive and cable to Mike on Monday, using the prepaid FedEx label which Mike prepared for me.

This was a very smooth process which I can highly recommend to anyone considering having some custom coding done. Mike knows his way around the software, and his extensive experience provides for a thoroughly enjoyable coding session.

Hi everyone,

Give me a few days to get back to your PM/s emails. I am sick with over 102 fever and am trying to recover.

In the process of retrofitting the CIC/Combox to my car, so I should have some new features available soon!

Mike just figured out how to disable the cold outside temperature chime and warning on startup. I'm pleased to be rid of that darned frost warning!

Glad it worked out Paul..

Very funny that BMW labeled this incorrectly in the code. I guess the Germans make mistakes too!

-----

I still need to start a thread on the remote flash drives, they have been a great success so far for those that are not local. In the mean time, if you are interested in the remote coding. you can PM for more info.

The navigation retrofit from the 2012 donor M3 is half way complete. Making great progress, just need to finish up building a harness for the Combox/Center USB(for video from ipod)/and Snap in adapter.

This means that more features will be offered soon once I have the chance to play with my new toys

Hi Mike,
Do you have any update on the coding for deleting the mandate of having seat belt buckled to move the car for the DCT folks? I've been told that BMW is going to have a fix too, but it's not out yet, and I'm inclined to get rid of the other warnings as well like the chime that goes every time I back out of a parking spot and go from reverse to drive/S-mode.

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the slow updates.

I have some new features for you guys and some exciting news for enabling Internet + BMW online on your car if you doesn't have it.

I have been meaning to post up a ton of stuff but time is my biggest constraint.

Remote coding has been remarkably successful also - no need for me sending you a flash drive at this point, you can simply download the files needed

I'm off to a client now, look for updates in the near future. I also plan on revamping the coding list and putting more info out there about how remote coding works.

If you have sent me an email or PM, I am just getting to the ones sent as of Feb 26th and will work my way up.. you will receive a response shortly!

Thanks!
Mike

Absolutely.

I can code any feature remotely.. just did an M3 in Minnesota yesterday a 335 in Philadelphia today. Takes about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the number of features. This includes LCI retrofits, bluetooth retrofits, replacement parts retrofitting, dvd in motion, plus anything else on the coding list in my sig etc..

Some new features to note that I have not mentioned before:
1) Turning on the xenon headlamps with the trunk button
(will post a video of this, just need to upload it from my phone)
2) Using the fog lights as cornering lights (if car is equipped)
Example video:

3) Angel eye brightness for BOTH when the headlights are on and off
4) Euro frequencies for radio (for those that need even numbers)
5) Make the rear fog lights work in tandem with brake lights.

I am also working on the brake light frequency flashing for when you try to stop fast or slam on the brakes. This really wakes people up behind you and might save you from a rear end.

I plan on making a thread sometime in the near future with my complete CIC retrofit as well as information on the remote coding. Those of you interested in remote coding can contact me via email or PM at anytime (although email is much faster). I also plan on revamping the coding list to make it more interactive and explanatory.
