Just bought my first BMW: '08 E92 M3
I've just replaced my '00 Audi S4 with a '08 BMW M3 Coupe (E92), and so far I'm loving the car! It's a DCT which is new to me, and I'm very new to the whole BMW world, so it's taking some getting used to, but it's a great car.
I'd like to know what mods people might recommend? It's still under warranty for another year, and I'd like to not do anything that seriously violates that until it's expired. So far all I've done is a hardwire of my Escort 9500 radar detector. It came with the matte black kidney front grills, which I love. I'm looking at getting the windows tinted and would like to get the tail lights smoked/tinted as well. I've been looking at the Lux angel eyes which are pretty tempting. With my Audi I did mostly power mods, and some electronics, but nothing showy. Due to the warranty I think I have limited power mod options (and it's pretty fast as is), so I'm branching out a bit Any suggestions/ideas? Thanks! Devon |

LUX angel eyes, black kidneys and hardwired detector are the only things I did to mine. This is my second E92 M3. It's all the car needs.

Welcome and I hope you enjoy the Forum!
From my perspective, I have also enjoyed Roundel (BMW Monthly Club Magazine), my local BMW CCA Club and Track Day Events. As for mods, this Forum is filled with information and suggestions. The answer on what is best for you depends on how you plan to use your M3. Have Fun, enjoy and again Welcome!

Thanks! I'll definitely find my local club. I've done a lot of track and winter driving events with the Audi folks, so I definitely want to keep doing that!

I haven't found any hard info on cost/complexity of the CIC swap? Just lots of people asking if it's possible
Do you have any idea on how I'd get it done, and what it might cost? |

Welcome! I would just wait until your warranty expires. You could do an axle back though.

Welcome to the Forum and Congratulations on your purchase of the 08.
As for mods ... there are many, I like to keep mine stock. Then I recommend you drive yours for a spell before adding mods.

Excellent choice! I also adopted an '08 M3 Coupe this month, here in the West Coast. Mine is Space Gray / Black interior with carbon trims. She is GORGEOUS and very athletic. No fake stuff on her, just pure stock. One mod I was looking to put on her is replacing the light switch to a Euro Switch, which will enable the fog light in the built in rear light. This will add visibility during foggy days in the early mornings on my way to work, as Gray disappears in the fog and darkness. You'll find this DYI mod in Bills Website along with other nifty and functinal DYI mods. (http://www.billswebspace.com/bmwm3.htm) Have fun with your M.
