Volk TE37's: 18x9.5 +35 offset; 18x10.5 +22 offset

So I purchased a set of these when I had my E46 M3, about 5 years ago. They've been a great purchase, as I've been able to use them on my current MZ4 Coupe.

The time has come to purchase another M3..specifically an E92.

Any thoughts on if these wheels (offsets in the title, and meant for an E46 M3) will fit the E92 M3s? Would I need spacers? What is the max tire size I can run?

I imagine a 265/295 set-up on these puppies for track-days...hopefully my imagination is not running wild!!!!

Those are great track wheels (I don't know if you mean to use them at the track). I run the same width TE37s with slightly different offset. My guess is you'll be fine although the front might stick out just a bit with spacers; I doubt that they would rub with 265 though, but that depends on the tire aspect ratio as well. I wouldn't use spacers with 10.5 ET22 in the rear. Details of my setup here:

Throw a 10mm spacer on in the front and you are good to go.

Yes, you can use these wheels on the new E92 M3 you are going to purchase.

With the offsets you posted, the front wheels would require spacers, and the rear wheels are going to come very close to rubbing the outer fender in the rear.

Here is what I recommend for your Volk wheels:

Front 18x9.5 +35mm wheel setup: 10mm hubcentric spacers to adjust wheel offset to +25mm, Tires: 275/35/18

Rear 18x10.5 +22mm wheel setup: No spacers required due to the aggressive offset, Tires: 295/35/18 with some additional negative camber to avoid rubbing the outer fender. (depends on the tire brand you choose)

I am pretty sure 18x9.5 ET23 OEM rear wheels with OEM 265/35/18 PS2s rubbed when Radiation Joe put them in the front with stock suspension.

That's very strange...

He rubbed with a smaller 25.3" OD tire (stock is 25.7"), and that offset?

Curious to know where he rubbed? (strut, fender lip, wheel liner)

Are you sure he didn't have any suspension setup issues? (or maybe he was using spacers?)

That setup should not rub on a stock car.

He rubbed on the liner. He show it to me. As far as I know, he is on stock suspension. I'll ask him to chip in as I might be missing something.

I found his post on this. Here you go, but the OEM 18" rear PS2 is actually 265/40/18, so that might make the difference in terms of clearance. Even with 35 aspect ratio, it would be close with the PS2.

Outside of the tire rubs on the rear of the wheel well near full lock. Light rub on the front of the wheel well on the passenger side near the oil cooler.

I recently test-fit and ran these exact same wheel/offsets on my e90m3.
You will need 10mm spacers on the front (only to clear inside for full turn).

In the back, I had no issues clearing the outside (quarter panel lip) .. but I am running -1.8 camber.
And the inside is close but it did not rub.

For Street tires I would run 275 in the front and 295 in the rear.
For R-Comps I run 265 in the front and 285 in the rear.
BTW, that 265/285 w 10mm up front made for a great neutral handling balance ... and the measured track width on all four corners was almost square.

GL - great wheels

Mastek, what tires did you use for your test-fit (incl. aspect ratio)?

Ahh, now that makes sense.

This explains why he was rubbing on the liners...

The 265/35/18 PS2 tire has an OD of 25.3", and a 265/40/18 has an OD of 26.3" which is a huge difference in tire fitment terms. His 265/40/18 tire was simply too big fit inside the front wheel well. It wouldn't have mattered if they were PS2's or not, that tire size has no chance of working.

A 265/40/18 tire would eventually rub a hole in the wheel liner. The clearances are so tight, that you are limited to 26.0" OD max. (and even that may rub under full steering lock)

The BMW engineers were just stingy with the real estate in the front wheel well.

Now the 265/35/18 mounted to the 18x9.5 +25 offset wheel, will have a lot more clearance to work with...since the OD of the tire is actually 1" smaller.

If the diameter difference between 35 and 40 aspect ratio tires is 1", he should be fine based on what a saw on Joe's car--the rubbing wasn't terrible.

Nice wheels you have. I have the TE 37s 18x9.5 with an et of 28 all around. I run a 12mm spacer on the rear but no spacer on the front with 275x35 tires. Great track setup and I use them on the road as well during the summer months.

The PS2 tires that wrap the front OE 19" (245/35/19) have an OD of 25.8 -- are you positive about that 26.0 max OD in the front wheel well?

Cause I was planning on a 265/35/19 on a 9" front wheel -- and now I'm thinking it wont work.
Would 1/2" over the diameter of a wheel/tire make that much of a difference in clearance?
