Updated iDrive on '09 US Spec Confirmed

See the following link posted by a BMW CA:

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=303302

However, there seems to be some ambiguity though as to exactly when this year the updated iDrive will be available. I posted a follow-up question, so we'll see what he has to say.

It's unclear. I've asked for some clarification. Most CA's I've spoken with tend to think in terms of when changes will actually reach the showroom rather than from a production perspective. I'll update once he clarifies.

I thought the first production runs of 09s start in September so first deliveries would be in late Oct/early Nov. Sept early Oct deliveries would still be 08s since they would have been built in July right?

That's my guess as well, but I'm looking for some confirmation.

For the tenth time , call bmw motor works msp they will tell you that the new I drive will be out with the 09's in Sep.

This is silly that you waste all this band with such B.S.

Better yet for all you folks that have an 08, CALL YOUR DEALER AND ASK.

That will solve the problem, NO OFFENSE.

No new idrive for 09 M models. I know the idrive designer.

As much as we all would like to think the M3 is something more special, it's still a "3 series," which is expressly mentioned.

No offense taken, and I agree that some CA's and dealers (mine included) are confirming this. However, some still aren't (trying to sell '08 models, I guess) and there are definitely still doubters around here, so I don't see the problem with providing added confirmation until we see something official from BMWNA.

For all of you guys so sure that it will, I'll bet you $100 it won't. PM me if you're interested in the bet.
I rest my case.

May I ask a simple question>

Please call your own Dealer and ask them if it will be on the 09's

It's that simple don't you agree?

If you find out tomorrow please let me know , that's one of the reasons I am waiting for an 09 instead of getting a 08 next week.

Thanks

PM sent. So BMW isn't afraid to piss off E90 M3 owners, but they're going to pussyfoot around E92 owners? Come on now...

Somehow I doubt the designer would have much say or insight into when it would be rolled into production.

I think we're talking about week 36+ production after the assembly line retooling is finished in August for the new MY.

that's not the point, the 09 e90 in those countries are not facelifted either. The change should come after the shut down of the factory in aug

Ya, 'cause dealers are always knowledgeable and never give out innacurate information.
Is this a joke or are you being serious?

Dealers know less than most posters on this forum. My buddies there confirm that they're the "last to know".

I can care less about the Idrive, but I am interested on who wins the bet.

BTW, this is my "official" input:

My question to BMW:

Quote:
Will September production e92 M3's heading to the United States have the update iDrive system? The information on this topic is scattered and it is hampering my decision to order an 08 or 09.
Their response:

Quote:
Dear Mr. XXXXXX:

Thank you for your patience while I researched your inquiry. The E90 will have the refreshed iDrive system in it. Although no official announcement has been made about the E92, it is anticipated that it will. We will probably not have an official answer until closer to the date of production.

Sincerely,

Laurie Burkland

As far as I am concerned that closes the book on the e90. The e92 is still very much up in the air!

Just to be clear, PencilGeek, you are betting that no MY2009 M3, not even the E90, will have the new iDrive?

Also, for MY2009, we must define that as cars built after the September shut down. Some countries change model years in the middle of the model-year-proper so the specs of any MY2009 cars that exist now are not relevant. Agreed?

Anyway, pending your clarifications on the above, not only will I take your bet, but I'll happily double that. In fact, we can multiply it by 10 if you want.

Hmm, I don't see where you said E92 in your post. What post number? (Edit: nevermind, I see you added it at the end of the paragraph).

Anyway, fair enough.

No, what I meant was raise the stakes to $1000. Loser pays winner $1000.
