Arrow Photos from Car Magazine: M3/GT-R/911/R8 (with article inside)

Quote:
Japan takes on the Germans

That Nissan’s GT-R is something special isn’t in doubt. But how does it stack up against the best Germany has to offer? We test the GT-R against Porsche’s 911 Turbo, the BMW M3 and Audi R8 on road and track, and bring you lap time and acceleration data ahead of every other magazine.

See below for the entire article. Many thanks to Boshhaab.

The M3 doesn't really belong in that gang.

I quickly read through it over lunch and basically for performance the order from first to last was GTR, 997tt, R8 and M3, lap times when like GTR, 997tt, R8 and M3 but the final verdict was a surprised in that the Porsche was last, too dear to be regarded any higher than that, R8 also fell next because it's price was again too much and it was the least practical which left the M3 and GTR to fight for honours. Well to be honest there wasn't much of a fight, the only reason the M3 got second (even though on the lap time it was 2 seconds slower than the R8 and over 3 seconds slower than the GTR) was purely down to price (being the cheapest) and the fact that it's a joy to drive on the track even if it's a handful, plus believe it or not in their (CAR) opinion the M3 has the best engine which did surprise me, especially when up against the 997Turbo engine and the v6Bi-turbo in the GTR.

All in all another good result for the M3.

P.S.

Just don't think that technically or in handling term it's as good as the rest and you will be OK.

thanks. the other thing you can do is to open the image in windows paint and click save. that automatically shrinks it a little bit.

No, it's not. However, the concept's antenna was.

The problem with the GT-R is the lack of "german sophistication". Driving an european car (specially german) is such an experience.

It's really amazing the fact that they are comparing such great machines with the M3. You would expect it can't beat the other competitors, but does a pretty great job (specially considering price and specs).

to include our ///M in these tests is fantastic... i can't believe it, i see it as a honnor for the bmw. note that there is no Mercedes

"the GT-R seems like a video game" -evey one is saying this... im not sure im fully okay with that... now i know some people will say well if its not a true manual you losing the driving experiance, now i can agree with that... a little... but i think that a M3 with M-DCT is one thing (i don't think anyone would way its like driving a video game), but the reviews make it seem like i could drive the GT-R with my eyes shut... i don't know if im okay with that... other wise its a heck of a car, ugly though. but ill give it respect.

Most here know that I am a Porsche lover, but I have to say that I find the GT-R very intoxicating. The car has grown on me so much that I feel it visually holds it's own against all of these cars. My only gripe is that it is a big car, but that is okay.

Awsome cars. I believe the condition was damped so a lot of advantage to 911tt, R8 and GT-R.

I know M3 won't keep up even in dry but I wonder what the gap would be. Any thoughts?
