Custom Emblem Options

A lot of owners, specifically those with JB/AW cars have switched to monochrome emblems and/or replaced the M3 trunk emblem to gloss or matte black. Replace your OEM kidneys and gills, and you've got a blacked out car, right?

Part of the reason I haven't switched over to the matte black ///M3 emblem I've had for the last 5 months is that no matter what I do, my roundel will still have a ring of shiny silver and say BMW in shiny silver.

Has anyone considered modifying an OEM roundel, or found a shop/vendor that can supply something less shiny? I'd love to keep the blue, but perhaps replace the chrome portions with black or a brushed silver. I think it look good on the monochrome emblems out there, too.

Can't say a car is blacked out till that last bit of chrome is gone Any ideas?

I've actually thought the same before! Too bad nobody makes one like that....would be pretty neat though. No good ideas to give, only support.

This was the biggest thing I hated about the blackout emblems...they're still chrome!

So...I carefully prep'd and painted the outside edge of mine gloss black to match my gloss black "M3" emblem.

It looks good and wasn't hard at all.

I'll post pics when I get a chance.

Awesome! Looking forward to seeing them. I was thinking about taking it on as a diy project.

One guy who worked Vorsteiner's GTRS3 custom made some emblems...the problem was that he had to charge a lot of money to custom make an emblem this way. I really wanted to go that route as well, but it looks like only certain customers/people can get it.

We're looking into making some in mass quantities, hopefully soon. In very similar style the one pictured, just need to finalize a few more details and get the mold going

Yeah, please do! Especially if the "overlays" still work, or if you'll offer it in with the OEM white/blue
