Novillo leather on top of dashboard console...? Where & cost?

Hi,

I have been dissappointed with several missing options in the interior option list when BMW came up with the option list for the M3. One of them was the lack of heads-up display and the most important one was the lack of leather to cover the top of dashboard. I would rather spend the cost of extended leather to covet the top of dashboard as opposed to what it covers now. I think they had that option in M5 and M6 but why not in M3. Anyway, do you know any place that can do that.

Thanks

Are you sitting on your dash all day that you need leather on there?

Honestly, you don't want leather on the dash, it will crack and crinkle after years of being in the sun (unless you live in the North Pole)... It's a waste of money, but it's your money, so waste away!

There was never any leather on the M5/M6 dash... I'm sure any reputable upholstery shop can do this for you and it will certainly cost thousands...

BMW individual line is providing things like this. It would not be cheap and I'm not sure whether this is an available option at your location or you can retrofit.

M5/M6 have leather on the upper dash. I would never let it crack.
Answer to OP, the entire dash would need to be changed. The regular dash, half leather dash (extended leather package) and full leather dash (individual) all have different part numbers.

We just did a full leather dash on a E92 M3. Looks amazing and is super solid.

I don't know how much collaboration and time you would need to put in in order for Individual to provide a detail like that! They test all their leather options, so I would guess if they ever did this in the first place, it would take at least a year to get a car like that.

To guy who said leather on dash is a waste...all higher luxury cars have this option and none crack...wtf. Look into a loaded M5, M6, X5M/X6M, 7 series and you will not see a plastic piece ANYWHERE in the car. All surfaces are leather-covered. I was very surprised/disappointed the M3 did not have this as an option. Audi S5 provides it....

This was also an option I would have GLADLY pay for.
I regret not getting extended leather also.

I think BMW Individual could do it. I still wonder nobody already did it. But it would surely cost about 5.000 to 10.000 €.

What did you do to accommodate the passenger air bag? I'm sending you a PM.

Cheers.

We perforated the leather so that the passenger air bag will deploy properly in an accident.

Not sure if the M5/M6 have it as an option, but my dad's 650 has it. He's had the car for over a year, it sits in the Miami sun most of the day, and it hasn't crinkled yet. It really does give the car's interior a bit more of a luxurious feel. I like it very much. Would definitely like it in my E92.

I think to each his own, I'll agree with everyone that it does look nice but for me, it's a bit too much leather. After all, this is a sports car and not a leather sofa.

I have a friend with a 2-year old 997S and the leather is already starting to show "fault lines" and cracks due to the discoloration. He has a cabrio so the car does roast in the California sun quite a bit.

I'd personally rather spend $3-5k somewhere else

Thanks for the replies.

I am stunned that someone mentioned its a "waste". This is a luxury sportscar, if i didnt want the style and comfort, i could have gone with Lotus. Anyway back to the point...

Looks like IND guys made a great job on the car but the pricing did scare me a lot. i guess i will contact the dealer to see if BMW individual can send the dash to be placed in by my dealer.

Does anyone has the BMW individual interior pics for the leather dashboard?

btw does individual offer heads up display as well?

It is a waste, but waste your money all you want. To each his own.

"Style and comfort" - are you sitting on the dash?

At least write a reply that makes sense.

Do people get in your car and say "shit, this car is trash, this guy is a loser for not getting a full-leather dash, he has no style and it's very uncomfortable."

Be stunned all you want, you want a leather dash, pay $5k and get one - or buy a 911 with full-leather interior. If BMW thought this car needed a leather dash, they would have added that to the options list or to the extended-leather.

This is a car, not a sofa.

No heads-up display on M3s...

I believe all 3 series have no option for full leather or HUD. It differentiates the 3 series from the more expensive lines (5, 6, 7 series for example).

Cheers.
