Anyone regret going catless?

I know there's quite a bit of discussion on here about the power gains and increased sound of a primary cat delete, but has anyone gone this route with their daily driver and later regretted it due to the smell/fumes?

For various reasons I would want to do the Dinan midpipe and software. Phil/M Ryder has given me his endorsement for this setup. I'd like to take advantage of the 15% off promotion running through the end of the month at Dinan. Just looking for further comments.

Thanks in advance.

one of the main reason going catless is for the power, but the only down side of the going catless is the smell, and not being able to pass smog... i think its all personal preference, me i personally love the smell of catless exhaust, i know im weird...

Yea you're like my friend lol. He likes the smell. Personally I like HFC smell lol!

To OP: no regrets going catless. I've had people I know complain about the smell, but I personally don't mind it at all and barely smell it as it is when I'm driving, unless I'm at a stop light with the windows down, and a light wind is blowing from back to front. In that case, I just roll up the windows till I start moving.

I have the Akra EVO with 100cpi cats and think it stinks more than I want. I definitely get nervous when there's a cop behind me at a stoplight, especially if it's a motorcycle cop- that start/stop BETTER shut the car down at that time!!

I'm not convinced there's a huge difference in power if you have the secondary cats in place. Evolve did measurements and didn't fine that much of a difference between catless and 200cpi cats in the secondary position.

This would mean the Turner Test pipes would be the way to go from a performance and price point.

Thanks for the comments. The smell at stoplights--is it so bad that you sit there hoping the light will turn green so you can get away from it? My installer warns me that when he has M3s in his shop with the midpipe, he can't let them idle at all or it makes his "eyes water"...

I don't even smell it anymore. After some driving time you'll be so used to the smell you'll forget all about it. Do it man before the sale is over.....you won't regret it. Just play the video I sent you..................Phil

Been catless on several cars..im done with that..yeah you may adjust to the smell, but I guarantee your passengers wont..the fumes are embarrasing (first question you'll get from a girl, "why does your car smell like that? ewwhh")

Not to mention poisonous..I used to get headaches all the time and the smell on my clothes..meh..

Takes a classy car and cheapens it imo

How much improvement will one get running catless vs.200cpi int he secondary position?
Evolve said hardly any improvement.

Can anyone comment on the smell difference between a completely stock exhaust system, and a stock exhaust system with just the primary cat removed while still leaving everything else in place?

Dont regret it all all. Sound and power are far too good to pass up. My only caveat would be having the set of resonators...I like that I have a set and wouldnt not want ot have them.

No regrets dumping the primary cats here. I've got 200 cel HFC's and I briefly get a smell on startup which quickly dissipates. If you're worried about it get an x pipe with HFC's.
