Went to the strip, SERIOUS DCT ISSUES! Anyone experienced anything like this?

Went to the strip 2 weeks back. First run was great, 1.91 60Ft and 12.49 et. Next time, tried LC again, released lever, nothing, engined justed revved, dash showed 1 but had to switch to n and back for it to run. Lined up a third time and had to shut down for 25 min after a crash. Restarted, did a small burnout, no prob. Went to do a Psudo launch with no LC and, hit the gas on the last amber and nothing again. Shift to n and back and went fine. Left the track, was pissed!! No faults on Nav systems check. Ideas anyone? Haven't had a chance to take it back to it in yet.

Maybe when you shut down your motor for 25 mins and restarted it the trans fluid wasn't at an appropriate temp to permit launch control?

It sounds to me that the second and third times you went to use LC, something turned it off. Did you happen to notice the chckered flag icon just before hammering the throttle? I mean, if you roll, touch the brakes, touch the gas, etc. it cancels the LC. Also, just as an FYI, many people have reported better success launching the car without the LC engaged. Some folks have even reported serious sideways action as well, which could be dangerous at a drag strip with walls lining the lanes.

launch control is MISERABLE on street tires....went to the track tonight and got best results/trap by mashing the pedal 1/2 way off the line then going WOT......I used the LC and got a 2.9 60ft.......time to buy slicks....

Guys, I didn't use LC on the last pass. Small burnout, no issues. Pressed my M button , staged, hit the gas on the last amber and the car went no where. Again had to switch into n, then back and it went. So, to recap, second pass, LC engaged, burnout was fine, didn't go anywhere after releasing the shifter(Flag was on dash). Second fail. small burnout, no issues. Hit my M button, mashed the throttle on the last amber and the car just revved again.

I completely disagree, LC worked great on the first run, 1.91 60 ft and 12.49 @ 113.7mph on stock PS2's.

Checkered flag was up when the failure happened. Immediately after turning off the track. Engaged LC again and worked fine. My best time ever was using Psuedo launch mode. Basically engage MDM, Power and softest EDC settings, put into 1 and mash the gas on the last amber. That was a 1.89 60 ft, and 12.45 @ 113.9mph

A serious comment here. DCT strikes me as a great (yet unproven long term) racing transmission, but NOT for drag racing. Nor would I subject it to that abuse if my M3 was DCT. You can buy a cheapo Mustang GT or similar car that will withstand much more abuse at the dragstrip, and be more effective. A cheap Mustang, with solid axle, is built for that.

I own an M3, and it's a great car, but DCT is a very complex, expensive, and yet unproven transmission to gamble with with serious abuse IMO. Plus its great rear suspension many times becomes a handicap on drag races providing terrible axle hop, and even breaking differential mounts/bolts (another weak link). Track days or autocross would be fine IMO, but drag races is simply unnecessary abuse IMO, but to each his own. Good day gang.

This. I think DCT is more for track days where it can handle that type of use and not for the strip.
