▀▄ eas - e92 M3 Progress/Buildup Journal

Announcing the delivery of our MY08 Sparkling Graphite e92 M3. This thread will serve as an ongoing journal of upcoming mods and informational basis for other things discovered along the way.

Color: Sparkling Graphite
Interior: Black Novillo Leather/Carbon Leather Trim
Packages: Technology Package, Cold Weather Package, Premium Package
Options: EDC, Heated Seats, 6FL iPod Connectivity & Sirius Radio
Communication: BMW Assist/Bluetooth

We've had the new M3 for a few weeks now and can say this is a blast to drive.

Lots may already know us in the iPod/electronics and carbon fibre over the years and that we have a spft spot for these vehicles. What you may not know is that we are very performance oriented also.

This buildup will expand as we have a select group of engineers working to make this one badass M3. Modifications will be ranging from all fields: Performance, Suspension, Exhaust, Electronics, Braking and Aesthetic with many parts originating from our own designs. Other vendors that are interested in participating in the buildup process are welcomed to contact me directly.

Vehicle will also serve as a test vehicle for new parts to be released from eas as well as other vendors, subscribing to this thread will allow you to be a part of the process.

Feedback, recommendations or questions are welcomed in this thread. Here are some pictures from delivery:

Enough rambling - time to begin.

CDV Valve examination

Our M3 is back from break-in and got her up in the air for a look on the underside. One of the popular modifications is what is called a Clutch Delay Valve, which limits the amount of fluid transfer/engagement of the clutch for smoother performance, but limiting performance for most.

Rather than go into detail, Zeckhausen has an excellent article here: http://www.zeckhausen.com/cdv.htm

Location of the CDV on D/S:

Comparison of CDV and larger valve on bench - casting numbers are slightly different:

Comparison of CDV orifice and line fitting:

The CDV does not appear to have any restriction, there is no need for replacement/modification.

Wheels 101

Since the M3 was up in the air, it was a good time to take a look at the wheels. Our M3 was ordered with 18" Gunmetal wheels (since they will eventually be replaced).

Infamous BBS stamping on rear of wheels:

Casting numbers on rear wheel:

Casting numbers on front wheel:

Stats:

Front: 18x8.5" ET29
Tire Size: 245/40-18
Weight: 50.75lbs

Rear: 18x9.5" ET23
Tire Size: 265/40-18
Weight: 52.0lbs

We're looking into a few replacements on wheels at the moment.

Those weights are for the whole thing -- wheel and tire -- right?

+1 on reverse camera already. i been hearing EAS is almost done developing that since 07

18" wheels are sick wheels for sure, i'd rock them i still think they look much better than all after markets i have seen so far (especially and specifically HRE)

You will be very pleased what we're installing in camera systems. It will be in 2 different stages on this thread.

Suspension...

With the weekend over and 1200 mile break-in completed, it's been a blast seeing how this car can actually perform. The new M3 is a real head-turner on the road getting automatic thumbs-up on during freeway driving from other drivers. It's time to make the M a bit more aggressive.

Next we need an altitude adjustment. There are a few routes to go on the M3 already, with lowering springs being the easiest way to achieve this and get away using the stock suspension components.

But where's the fun in that?

We're giving this car the KW treatment. Suspension arrived today:

e92 M3 KW Variant 3 Coilovers

EDC Code Isolators

More info on e9X M3 V3s can be found here: http://www.kw-suspension.com/en/40_N...lang=2&id=1675

Suspension will have to wait a few days - Baseline dyno tomorrow.
