For comparison sake, Can someone clever superimpose the E46 and RS4 engine spec onto this graph?

Hey Fleet good to have you back!

Question (if you happen to know) - why doesn't the M3 V8 have an official engine code yet?

Thanks Fleet! S6* makes sense since its a V8. S65 sounds good, nice ring to it. I started a seperate thread for it - so if you get confirmation, by all means post it.

Yep, and no valvetronic either. Just like the S85. I don't think its hurting the engine. The HPI will probably come in future M powerplants though.

2004 BMW M3  [0.00]
http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/n...2823_14194.hbs here some pictures of the new engine.

They state it will actually weigh 16 kg ~ 35 lbs less than the old R6 engine in the E46 M3. It's fantastic, I can't believe it. BMW engineered an engine far better than the RS4 engine... The only thing left is to learn about the fuel consumption.

Best regards,

CSL

There does seem to be a lot of similarities between the M3's power graph and that of the RS4. Especially the torque graph.
