Regarding Saddle Brown Leather on the X5. This thread alludes to the fact that there were multiple orders in the system for Saddle Brown in the new X5. I beleive that it was a Priority 1 Option. This was NOT a special order.

There are no options beyond the standard pallete (and Priority 1) for any US BMWs. I saw the email from Miltitary Sales, I think there is a better chance with them than otherwise.

If you think I am wrong, then show me a car built since they discontinued the Individual program w/ Individual Options. I have presented this same challenge in the past and no one has EVER posted pictures of a US Spec car built since the discontinuation of the program w/ Individaul Options.

What I'm saying is simple, Adam... in the past these "no can't do" were common, until somebody showed up with an Individual/custom paint. Eventually BMWNA will offer again this "option" if there is enough interest and whatever is causing this change of mind is gone, IMO.

I'm not saying that you are wrong, much less a challenge... I don't even know where this "confrontation" is coming from, although this is not the first time that you answer a post like this. What I do know is that I've have seen too many variations on this issue for more than 15 years to be this confident.

+1

Time to let the "Individual" dream die in the US for now, IMHO. Its funny how every time this comes up, there is still a remaining faction who simply won't accept that BMWUSA no longer participates in this program (besides the 7 series). Nothing against anyone, its just funny how urban legend-y the whole thing is now.

If (big if IMHO) Individual returns to the US, it will become immediately known throughout all BMW forums. It will be big news. Failing that - we can all assume its not happening.

Just buy a Porsche. They have no problem taking your money no matter what color or option you specify. If you have the money they will get her done.

Don't repaint, trust me. The value will take a huge hit, and it will cost upwards of 10k+ for a GOOD job.

A proper paint job at a legit place usually runs between 5K and 8K.

When I had my 7 series painted I knew the shop manager very well and had it done for around 6k, which included removing the engine and painting the engine bay/frame rails + molding the AC Schnitzer kit.
