2009 M3, no 2008
Hi everybody,
I just wanted to point out that I am only a messanger, and do not necessarily believe what is being said. But today, at the Denver Auto Show, I was told the M3 will not arrive until late 2008, as 2009 model. That would mean it is still 1 1/2 years away. Also, the representative assured me that they are expecting a price tag of mid 60s. Other than that, I could not get anymore info out of him. The R8 is beautiful though. Best regards, CSL |

It's only been 3 weeks since the car was unveiled in Geneva and I already feel the excitement dying. They expect us to "stay tuned" another year and a half? Ha! if true BMW! |

I bet the first press cars will be in the US by year end. In our market dealers are already specking their demo cars (June production).

Naw sounds more like a dealer trying to get him to buy what he has and not what he's going to get.....M3's will be ready no later than March 2008..at the late...Sedan will be launched Sep 2008, covertible March 2009..at the late, andi'd bet ya could say everything will be up for debate..but BMW is not going to wait that long their cars are great..but to ask some one to wait that long is crazy...

This is DIRECTLY from BMW NA (USA)...
I have a family member that works for BMW NA (USA). I've seen the memo!!!! This isn't speculation or work of mouth. As of last week, production on the coupe is scheduled to start in Dec 07 and the cab in March 08. I suppose it could change & if it does I will let you know. |

The Denver Auto Show is LOCAL dealers selling cars. This is NOT a typical auto show with introductions and factory people in the "know" about things like this. It's mostly local dealership people with a few low level factory people there for support and as "spokes people" (booth babes!). I wouldn't consider someone at the Denver Auto Show a reliable source.
None the less this is good info and needs to be filed away as more speculation on availability. The person who said it sounded like a sales person trying to get you to buy what's available today sounds about right! In sales we call this SWAT- Sell What's Available Today. I'm taking my son to the show this weekend and I'll also ask around and take pictures of the booth babes!

The reps at the auto shows are just local BMW sales man. I wouldn't trust that guy for $HIT considering trustworthy publications have been saying late '07 to early '08 for quit sometime now.

Autocar magazine have already told their readers in their Geneva issue they'll be driving the new M3 production car in June.

Isn't the press launch in Europe in June when all the car mags will get a chance behind the wheel?

If there’s any truth to the DSG-equipped M3 coupe arriving in late 08’ in North America, then that about seals it for me. I’m out as well. I was hoping to be driving the new car by March or Aprll 08’ , but even that may be optimistic; especially If I want the new dual clutch tranny.
Then again if I get a 6-series, or an E63, and I see the new M3 on the road, the curiousity will kill me, and I’ll feel bad for not waiting. My dealer tells me that the car will be in NA in the spring of next year, more likely a 6-spd. But, they can’t get a really good gauge until the fall of this year. |
