I went with the A7 Sport Edition wheels with 8" in the front and 9" in the rear. I wanted to keep the rear a bit wider for the grip with all the power the car has. For tires I went with the Dunlop WinterSport 3D. I was worried that Blizzaks might be overkill for our winters. I've had them on the car for about a week and I am quite happy with them. They have decent reviews in general and I believe they should be more than adequate for Boston winters.

Quick question:
Will 235 45 R18 s fit with A7s ( 18x8, 18x9 ) ? Is it a problem to have a bigger side? LM60 doesn't have 235 40 R18, that's why I'm asking. Thank you!

Matte Black Miro 111s 18x8.5 ET20 w/ 245/18/40 Michelin PA3s on all corners. Decided to go for a square setup so I could rotate.
I originally wanted VMR CSL-reps, but apparently VMR no longer makes an 18" M3 offset. Not many choices for square 18" setups for the Ms, so hopefully this can help others in search of options! Thanks to Jurrian @ **********s for the help picking these out!

Winter Wheel offset
I am currently looking at a winter setup that includes 245/40/18. However, the wheels come off of a 5 series and they state a medium offset. I know my 2011 M3 states a high positive offset. Will this work for the winter? Am I in danger of any damage or problems with fitments. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you |

Has anyone had issues with the Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D Xl being out of round?
I was getting a vibration from my new winter pkg and found the front pass tire is out of round. Would have expected more from Dunlop. Also has anyone had issues with the hub bore on the Sport Edition A7? The same wheel is almost impossible to get on the car. Ironically, it's the same tire/wheel location. I don't have summer wheels to put back on.

Update: Wheel hub bore on the Sport Edition A7 wheel was too small, and the tire was out of round.
Tire Rack Response: Tire rack is sending me a new Wheel and Tire. This is why I always suggest using the Tire Rack!

hi everyone, new to the forums (first post). I recently got in a '12 M3 fully loaded on the 19'' comp pkg rims/tires.
I've driven RWD sports cars in the snow before with 19" blizzaks and it's amazing so I want to do the same with my M3. Since it's spring/summer I got a great deal on some blizzaks through tireracks closeout special.. I got the same size rear tires 265/35-19 so I'm OK there. For the front tires the closest they come is 245/40-19. So we are looking at 5% thicker profile, I think that comes out to 24mm thicker (top and bottom) (24mm= .94 inches) so we are talking a little less than 1 inch added to the profile or .5 inch all around Will this difference be ok? Should I reconsider? Is a dealer going to care when I take them to be mounted next winter? How about performance issues? Hoping the difference is small enough I really don't need to worry. In theory, once that added 5% wears down, it would be no different than a 245/35-19 at that point (tread depth may differ slightly, but overall diameter would not) I'm not going to run 18's or different rims. thanks!! In a car winter tire is high quality, exact fitments and all wheels manufactured using strict quality control standards. In a winter car easy bolt on installation and it is already mounted and balanced. It is the best tire in you car.

Winter tires and wheels for E93 M Sport
Hi Everyone,
I just picked up a 2009 E93, Black Saphire, 6speed MT, M Sport. I found some Style 67 M3 wheels that are fresh from NuBrite, never mounted. They are staggered 19x8 and 19x9.5. The stock M rims are mounted with 225/30/19 rear and 225/35/19 fronts. I am looking at a great deal on some Blizzaks, but all four are 255/35/19. Will these fit without rubbing on the front? Will it cause me any problems all being the same size with the staggered rims? Any potential issue with rubbing? Would I need spacers? Will this size mess with my speedo or odometer? Do I steer clear of these because of potential issues or do I go for it? The tires are basically brand new and I can pick them up for $400 so I'd really like to grab them. I'll also need TPMS and mounting and balancing. Where the best place to get this done in Greater Vancouver where they will respect my newly finished and polished rims? Thanks in advance for your replies. Steve |

I just spoke to BMW and they said I couldn't use the 255's up front as they would rub, as suspected. But the sie is perfect for the backs. So I need to find 225/40/19's for up front for this set up.
Anyone got a pair of Blizzak LM60's 225/40/19's that they want to sell? Still waiting to hear back if the guy will only sell 2 of his 4. Oh, and they also recommended not running 19's for winter. They suggested narrower and only up to 18's. Anyone else heard this recommendation or have any concerns with running 19's? Steve |

If you must run 19's then you can use 255/35/19 in the front and rear. Just do a search; tons of people run 255/35/19's in the front. It's a very common size around here. Keep in mind that fitment does depend on the correct wheel offsets. Also keep in mind that narrower is better. Why are you considering Style 67 wheels? Those are e46 M3 wheels which are far from ideal for an e93. I would pass on those wheels as the offsets and sizes are not a good match. The best value is OEM 18" M3 wheels designed for your car. Tons of members are constantly selling them in the wheel and tire, for-sale section.

Thanks slicer. That's all very good information, much appreciated. The reason I picked up the wheels was I got a great deal on them, at unfortunately did not do enough research before picking them up. They have been freshly machine and have never been mounted and thought I was fortunate to have found them. Finding perfect used M rims 20 minutes from my house for a great deal was hard to pass up. He spent more on re-finishing them then i spent for the set.
I think I'll post them in here and see what happens. For reference, what do you think I would need to spend for M style rims for my car in 18's? I literally just bought the car yesterday, and wanted to make sure that my complete investment was covered, i.e. getting snows right away while I am in spending mode. Obviously not wanting to spend money 4-6 months later to get winters. I have to drive the car 45 minutes each day to and from work and need to deal with icy conditions. We get almost no snow here so I am not that worried about depth. I am curious regarding your comment on the 255's up front. BMW was pretty adament that it would not work. I will search the forum as you suggest, but if you have some references where people are doing it with no problem that would be really helpful. Thanks again. Steve |

I have a set of wheels that look the same as the ones in the very first post of this thread. I bought them from TireRack for my M5 and used them for a couple winters. I sold the M5, never got around to selling the winter wheel set up. Now I have a 2011 M3 and I'm wondering if they might fit? I'm pretty sure all 4 tires are the same size: 255/45 R18. I saw a post that the 19s in 255 width might rub in the front. Might these work since they are 18s?

The 19s were 255/45-19?
To your point...stock size tires are 245/35-19 which has an overal diameter of 25.752. In your case, you will be running 255/45-18 which as an overal diameter of 27.035. That is quite a difference. Non-winter tires, people run 255/35-19 which has a diameter of 26.028. Anything bigger it starts to depend on offsets of the wheels which might be your case as well. I am not a tire person, just thinking out loud. I used this as my tire calculator for estimates: http://www.csgnetwork.com/tiresizescalc.html |

Very helpful information - thank you. I may just take the practical approach and take out a tape measure and measure the diameter of the tires on the car and the winter tires and see what the *actual* diameter difference is and then decide from there. Thank you!

Are the Sport Edition A7's hubcentric - do not require hub rings?
Also does Rial make an 18" wheel that will fit the M3? I want to order a set through Tirerack as i like there service and the fact that the tires are mounted and balanced however i really don't like the Sport Edition wheels |
