Thoughts ON New Trunk Design

Hey guys, Project M have asked me to show some pics to you folks and get some feedbacks as he prepares to release the trunk COVER not a full trunk to the M3 e90s first and e92 afterwards

Fits over your OEM trunk and offers a full CSL look and more importantly 100% fitment as it lines up with the OEM like a glove and barely see its an added piece. I was amzed when i first saw it and thought it was full trunk until he showed me it was an add pieces.

Your feed backs would be appreciated> Carbon and FRP will be offered made in the USA with a 1-2 week wait time for production.

He needs to see interests level and which material will be preferred Carbon or FRP. Less than 3 lbs added to your trunk

WOW i think it looks nice... I currently have the ERICSSON cause i think it was one of the best trunk out for our cars but i think you can pull it off with this set up...

although if people decide to run this trunk they have to back it off with front lip and rear diffuser to go with the flow. I like how the flap, not too bulky.. smooth clean thin lines...

do one for the E92 that should look a lot better than the E90's.... (not saying it looks bad on your car but i think it flows better on a e92)

Honestly, if it's made to fit nicely I don't see anything wrong with it. Not everyone can afford (or want to pay for) a full trunk with install/paint/etc. Even the best aftermarket trunks sometimes require a lot of work to get it to fit properly.

It's a great idea and I'm surprised it hasn't come out sooner.

Second last picture taken from the side makes the trunk look overdone a bit, but on the whole look ok.

i have seen AKRYM, and MY AMUSE ERICSSON, fits perfect without doing any work but just a simple alignment was done and called it a day...

others I agree even THE VERY WELL KNOWN VORS... I NOW KNOW 7 PEOPLE THAT HAD TO DO A SOMEWHAT MAJOR ADJUSTMENT, CUTTING MAKING HOLES TO MAKE IT FIT... for that price i say fawk that...

Fitment

It's a great idea and I'm surprised it hasn't come out sooner.

He's targeting primary those folks who wants to keep their oem trunk and not having to worry about fitment and more importantly the buying trend due to our economic condition. You can now have a CSL look for half the cost and not having to worry about fitment and spare part laying around.

He had the full trunk ready for production but changed his mind after evaluating buying trends based on our economic condition. It's pretty much a cross over spoiler and a full trunk. It fits directly over your oem trunk and lines up to exact shape.

I thought it was a smart move IMO. I see more folks with their oem trunk and add spoiler compared to a full trunk and shit load of bimmers in SoCal. I would say 15% or less have an aftermarket trunk.

I requested for FRP pics with paint and just replied he called production to get two FRP out by tomorrow and is looking for 2 cars to sponsor at production cost. if anyone is interested PM your email and i can forward your info you folks can discuss the details.

e92 is in the way.

He had me fool. For a week, he didn't say a word to anyone that it was only a cover and every single person thought it was a full trunk and painted the lower half. In person, i can honestly say it looks like a full trunk. Can't see the difference.

EDIT: He sent this pic in response.

any pre lci feed backs? He's looking for 2 pre lci cars preferably in So Cal area to give a killer deal before he launches them to retail. For the LCI guys, he's considering and making the mold now. He just needs a few who are seriously interested bc making the mold is not cheap

I think it looks pretty cool! I would like to see it partially painted on an E92 but I would definitely be interested!

he's going to have it painted. he wanted to keep it carbon for pictures since its already mounted on his car. Plus you can see the contrast silver and carbon. I just relayed the message and he's bringing the trunk in the shop for paint tomorrow if i not mistaken.

I can vouch for this guy. I sold my OEM trunk to him today and saw his trunk.. it's legit. It doesn't look like an add-on spoiler at all. All the lines line up, very smooth surface, and love the flare. It is indeed as aggressive as the VRS trunk, but an Mtech rear bumper would solve the problem easy. I would definitely tell the ppl @ e90post about this. I know they will be very interested as long as the price is reasonable!

the request for e92 and LCI versions was brought to his attention and hes more than happy to make the molds and reproduce and can be done quickly since it's local. If i can get a count on who is seriously potential buyers, he can better gauge and measure mold cost and demand. In essence he would need to min 7 serious buyers to make the mold. Same with the LCI e90.

possible e92 interests? and LCI please make a note with a response and will forward the count.

regarding fitment on other trunks, I must agree on the ericcson trunk as being one of the best fitment trunk but with this design, there's no need if you can obtain the same look. If was i tracking my ride, it would make sense to buy a full trunk otherwise, with issues you need to deal with on making a trunk fit, this design would suffice for the looks as it provides many benefits, OEM fitment, Style with aggressive look, maintains the the luxury look and makes your car standout bc of its seamless design.
