3M tape problem

So I recently installed the m3 cf spoiler and I noticed the sides are a bit loose and the tape is peeling off. Is it true I can heat the tape and it will re-stick,
or any solutions you guys have, thanks.

What I did was cleaned the spoiler really really well. Applied the tape without touching the contact parts and make sure to trim the excess so wind and debris don't start prying it up. Obviously the same for super cleaning the trunk I used goo gone and alcohol 2x. Mark it and line it up and apply the spoiler then tape it down ALOT with painters tape for 24hrs make sure to use a lot of painters tape to apply downward pressure on the spoiler. Mine is rock solid even after 140-150mph. Reason I shared that is because I think it's much safer to just redo the whole thing it's def not worth the risk

You can buy replacement 3M VHB tape and just cutting it to fit. I wouldn't try reusing it. Read the directions carefully to get optimal adhesion.

Have you ever seen how strong 3M VHB is? It is used by the OEMs. It's not a shitty shadetree product.

You can get 3M VHB at most hardware stores. I would think there's plenty of online merchants that stock it, too. There are different sizes and thicknesses, but I have no clue which is the "best".

3m auto tape worked for me, was loose at first but I left my car parked in the sun for half the day and let it cool down. It's pretty solid now

Not good. Improper installation. Just heating and applying pressure won't do the trick. Start all over from scratch.

I don't want to be the guy that says I told you so but...funny how you dismiss my "installation method" due to someone calling it out as overkill (in which it was) and followed his approach of, "dude it's easy, just add tape, line up and be done with it". Now you see why it pays to sometimes go the extra mile.

Revert back to the thread you created about installing this piece, follow my method of application, spend a few more bucks to get the 3m adhesion promoter and alcohol wipes. You could shorten the curing process by a day or two, no worries there, again my M isn't my daily so I was able to just let it sit. Take your time, follow my steps a that should be that.

You shouldn't have to worry about the tape peeling. If you run into problems again after starting from scratch, seek professional help.

Do race teams use it to apply their aero? Can come off at track speeds with it bolted on and multiple supports.

Because your method was overkill. He probably did a shitty install with some junk tape or didn't clean the trunk good enough. I didn't use any 3M adhesion promoter or let it cure for 36 days like aged meat. I cleaned all the old adhesive off the trunk, cleaned the spoiler and then applied 3M tape all the way to the edge of the spoiler. That was it. Has held up to over 160mph more than once and 100mph+ all the time. Been through multiple car washes with my pressure washer and even had my friend lift my trunk up by the spoiler accidentally once, no issues. Just because one guy has an install issue, don't knock the method. It's not like he posted a video of the install so we could see exactly what he used.

Cool story bro. Keep your car in the garage where it belongs, weekend warrior. Probably the same guy who parks his car 6 miles away from the store so no one parks next to it. Glad you know exactly when and were I've done those speeds. Catch this block loser.
